WELCOME TO THE PROJECT TELELAC! This message goes directed to all who we are related with the creation, invigoration and consolidation of the telecentros with social ends in Latin America and the Caribbean. Dear friends: Receive an affectionate greeting of who we make Chasquinet and the Project TELELAC. - Net of Telecentros of LAC: Sharing lessons learned by the telecentros and invigoration from their actions to the service of the civil society. This collective effort systematizes the contributions of the participants of the List of Discussion TELELAC picked up starting from an on-line consultation organized by the International Center of Investigation for the Development IRDC and facilitated by the Foundation Chasquinet during the month of July of 1999. Through this project we look for the democratization from the access to the knowledge and the information for who have always been excluded of them to strengthen their own development processes. Our action is based on the principles of solidarity and mutual support. We want to invite you to be integrated to this collective process because we know your enthusiasm, proactividad, spirit, honesty and consequence with the principles of social justice; of respect the cultural diversity as sustenance of the conformation of a new type of more tolerant and fairrer society; and to the gender justness. The present project seeks to develop three fundamental topics: An investigation program and creation of databases that allows to improve the operation of the telecentros substantially; A proposal of invigoration of the telecentros that work in the area of the development and A methodological and comparative analysis of the work that carry out, using evaluation tools and monitoreo that allow them to discuss the advances or setbacks, and to improve their administration. Additionally, and like fundamental part of the Project the virtual community of telecentros that works as an open forum for all the actors involved in the telecentros movement is. This virtual space is good to share experiences, learned lessons, to promote activities, to articulate actions, to lean on mutually in the development of the telecentros for social ends. They are actors of the telecentros movement the investigators of the new technologies of the communication and information, technicians, promoters, telecentros coordinators, stake-holders in telecommunications, cooperation agencies and other activists. We invite to interactuar in the list [email protected] The main paper of the list, besides being an open forum, will be the one from retroalimentar to the project TELELAC. The list will be open for all and its function won't only be limited to the project Telelac. The duration of the project is of 24 months, and it is sponsored by the International Center of Investigation for the Development (CIID), it programs regional PAN. The execution of the project is in charge of the Foundation ChasquiNet, of Quito, Ecuador, in collaboration with the participants of the list Telelac to form the Latin American net of telecentros.
