REQUEST FOR PARTICIPATION

for Latin American Experts and Organisations

Who Should Attend

  • This is a collaboration brokerage event. The number of participants will be restricted to 60-100 people from the EU and Latin America. Participation is by invitation only. Invitations will only be issued to those who provide completed collaboration pre-proposal forms (see next page).
  • Participants will be invited on the basis of the match with other participants and the likelihood of their participation leading to collaboration. Those who are not invited to this event may be invited to future events. They will be retained in the Eurolat-IS database. They will be added to the Eurolat-IS mailing lists and kept informed of all Eurolat-IS related events. Their proposal for collaboration will be published in the proceedings of the Thematic Workshop and integrated into Thematic Action Plans for appropriate IST domains.
  • Participation in the Thematic Workshop may be of interest to:

- Technology providers, service providers, marketing companies, or any company wishing to adopt electronic commerce in a specific application domain, retail, distribution, supply chain management.

- Banks, financial organisations, chambers of commerce and industry or professional organisations wishing to promote electronic commerce,

- Academic or industrial researchers in electronic commerce related technology issues, business process transformation, electronic commerce related economics or law.

  • In their collaboration pre-proposals the Latin American participants should try to:

- Describe specific situations or ways of organising business in Latin America which may require novel technological approaches.

- Propose specific actions in which Euro-Latin American joint activities could be useful.

- Refer to the current situation as regards the take-up of electronic commerce in the country or region.

- Refer to local and regional initiatives to promote the adoption of electronic commerce applications.

Support for Participants, and how to Request an Invitation to Participate

  • A limited amount of financing will be available to support travel and subsistence related costs of participants. As a general rule, efforts will be made to accommodate participants from academia and from SMEs. Participants from large companies should support their own costs.
  • The first invitations to participate will be sent out in mid January 2000.
  • A request for participation can be sent any time to the Eurolat-IS Co-ordination Unit (see footer). The request to attend and the pre-proposal forms are available directly on the Eurolat-IS Website.
