Los artistas actuar�n en octubre durante el Segundo Foro de Ministros de la

SANTO DOMINGO, D.N.- Artistas africanos y caribe�os actuar�n en octubre
durante el Segundo Foro de Ministros de Cultura de los pa�ses ACP.
El encuentro de ministros de Cultura de los pa�ses de Africa, Caribe y
Pac�fico, que tendr� lugar en la capital dominicana desde el 11 al 21 de
octubre ser� el marco para el Festival de Festivales ACP, que comenzar� el
14 del pr�ximo mes y terminar� el 21. Durante esas jornadas, el p�blico de
Santo Domingo podr� asistir de manera gratuita a una serie de actividades
culturales en las que se reunir�n la danza, el cine, la pintura, artesan�a,
gastronom�a, la moda y los bailes tradicionales de los diversos pa�ses del ACP.
Tanto el foro de ministros de Cultura como el festival son organizados por
la Secretar�a de Estado de Cultura y la Oficina del Ordenador Nacional para
los Fondos Europes de Desarrollo (ONFED).
Los artistas y agrupaciones confirmadas que actuar�n son: Andy Palacio and
the Garifuna Revival Band, de Belice; Bare Essentials Ban de Jamaica; Bongo
Love, de Zimbabwe; Culture Musical Club, de Zanz�bar; K�k�l� de Rep�blica
Democr�tica del Congo; Lang'i de Congo Brazzaville; Malouma de Mauritania;
Manou Gallo, de Cosa de Marfil; Myra Andrade, de Cape Verde; Menwar and
Saga� de Mauricio; Mungal Patasar and Pantar de Trinidad & Tobago; Nfithe
de Mozambique; Omar P�ne de Senegal y Simon Nwambeben de Camer�n.
La coordinaci�n y el montaje de los desfiles de modas estar�n a cargo de la
productora de televisi�n Tita Hasb�n.
Los espacios que albergar�n a las distintas actividades de este festival
ser�n la sala Manuel Rueda, la Ciudad Colonial y la Plaza de la Cultura
Juan Pablo Duarte.
Jos� Antonio Rodr�guez dirigir� la delegaci�n dominicana, que estar�
integrada por artistas de la talla de Sergio Vargas, Los Hermanos Rosario,
Manuel Jim�nez, Fell� Vega, Rold�n, Luis "El Terror� D�az, Xiomara Fortuna,
Sonia Silvestre, Guarionex Aquino, Macarand�, y los cuerpos de ballet
folkl�rico, entre ellos el Ballet Cl�sico Nacional, Ballet Folkl�rico de la
UASD, Ballet Folkl�rico Nacional, Ballet Roto y Ballet Folkl�rico de Santiago.
El horario de comienzo de cada est� programado a las 7 de la noche de cada
jornada para la primera funci�n, y a las 8 de la noche para el inicio de la
segunda.
El evento cultural reunir� a un numeroso grupo de artistas que representan
a los pa�ses integrantes de la comunidad ACP, con la intenci�n de rescatar,
exhibir y poner en relieve todas las expresiones culturales que tienen que
ver con la identidad y las ra�ces de la cultura afrocaribe�a.

Todo es una cuesti�n de elecci�n� el Tango de la Muerte cuestiona la idea
del pensamiento conciente e inconciente, la modestia y el control sobre s�
mismo. Es una reuni�n con uno mismo, un intercambio entre dos mundos, el
de lo conciente y el de lo inconciente, un camino que combina el cuerpo y
el esp�ritu.
Augusto Cuvilas, bailar�n y core�grafo, naci� en 1971 en Mozambique.
Estudi� en la Escuela Nacional de Danza de Maputo, la Escuela Nacional de
Artes (ENA) en Cuba y en la Universidad de Paris XIII. Fue core�grafo y
director art�stico de la Compa��a Nacional de Mozambique. Fund� su propio
proyecto, el Proyecto Cuvilas. Esta compa��a pretende trabajar con j�venes
core�grafos que deseen laborar con diferentes tipos de baile. Basado en su
propia experiencia, mantiene un espacio abierto para la confrontaci�n entre
el baile de Mozambique y la danza contempor�nea.

Ayikodans Dance Company

Hait�
La Ayikodans Dance Compa��a es el 1er grupo de baile en Hait� yb es
dirigido por el core�grafo de reconocimiento internacional Jeanguysaintus.
Ayikodans presenta una perfecta mezcla de estilos de baile moderno y
tradicional. Fundado en 1987, Ayikodans (antes Artcho Danse) ha
representando a la rica cultura de Hait� en n�meros eventos internacionales
(Trinidad, Puerto Rico, Guadalupe, Martinica, Francia, Jamaica, Nueva York,
Miami, Rep�blica Dominicana, Espa�a, Jap�n�). La compa��a representa lo
mejor de la cultura haitiana. Los tambores y bailarinas se combinan para
ofrecer espect�culos que captan la atenci�n y estremecen el esp�ritu.
El grupo es una confirmaci�n f�sica e intelectual de la nueva est�tica en
la danza haitiana. Muchos consideran, con buenas razones, que Ayikodans son
los embajadores culturales m�s j�venes y vibrantes de Hait�.

Compagnie 1er Temps
Senegal
En el a�o 2000, tras haber colaborado con numerosos directores y
core�grafos, Andr�ya Ouamba, de Pointe Noire, Congo Brazzaville, decide
crear una compa��a en Dakar, Senegal. El core�grafo congole�o Chrysogone
Diangouaya la nombra Compa��a 1er Tiempo.
La nueva pieza �Impro-Vis�_2�, se inspira de los ni�os de las calles de
Dakar. La compa��a organiz� talleres con los ni�os, acompa��ndolos en sus
actividades cotidianas y hablando con ellos. El resultado es una
presentaci�n abstracta de las luchas de poder entre ellos (conocidos como
�talib� en Dakar) as� como el viaje de un mendigo infeliz y la persona que
lo regala una raz�n para vivir.
Despu�s de la primera parte de esta performance de dos personas, la
Compagnie 1er Temps invitar� a dos core�grafos locales para que participen
en la segunda parte, creando juntos une performance frente a los espectadores.

Kettly No�l naci� en Puerto Pr�ncipe, Hait�. Estudio como bailarina y
actriz en el Actor Studio de Paris dirigido por Jack Waltzer. Desarroll�
un inter�s en el baile haitiano profano y sagrado, luego empez� explorar
las danzas de Benin y de Mal�. Su trabajo como core�grafa empez� en 1989
en Hait�. Se mud� en Paris en 1990 y fund� su primera compa��a de baile y
cre� su primera obra coreogr�fica Nanlakou, en La Casa de las Culturas del
Mundo con el apoyo del FACIG y del Th��tre Contemporain de la Danse, en 1995.
Benin fue el comienzo de su experiencia africana, en 1996: �Desde que
llegu� a Cotonou, trato de entender lo que estoy haciendo. Pare entender,
comparto con los otros y estoy aprendiendo a trav�s del proceso de
compartir.� Con este enfoque, empez� a ense�ar a j�venes de la zona y
fund� una compa��a con ellos. Hoy, cada uno de ellos es miembro del Ballet
Nacional. A finales de 1996, lleg� a Mal� y repiti� el mismo programa de
ense�anza. Fue el origen de L'Espace, un estudio de baile y coreograf�a.
Sigui� experimentando y produjo varios performances: Cousin, Cousine en
2001, Tichelbe en 2002 (3er Premio del 5to African/Indian Ocean competition
en Madagascar y el Premio Mejor Joven Bailarina de Radio France
Internacional) por, Gaou en el 2005 y recientemente por Errance.
Su trabaja se focaliza en el sentido del movimiento, las ra�ces y las
fuente comunes que lo alimentan. Tambi�n fund� Dance Bamako Dance, el
festival internacional de danza contempor�nea de Bamako.
Geeme
Tch�Tch�

Costa de Marfil
En B�t�, un idioma hablado en el centro oeste de la Costa de Marfil,
�tch�tch� significa �guila, representando el poder, la gloria y la
dominaci�n. Esas son las fuerzas que empujan esta joven y ambiciosa compa��a.
Tch�Tch� fue creada el d�a 1 de junio de 1997, en Abidj�n, Costa de Marfil.
Fue el resultado de la pasi�n com�n compartido por dos j�venes: Jeety Lebri
Bridji, director art�stico y B�atrice Komb�, core�grafa. Las cuatro
bailarinas que la integran, din�micas y trabajando con un esp�ritu de
colaboraci�n, representan la juventud urbana africana, listas para
descubrir y crecer.
La regi�n occidental de la Costa de Marfil tiene una cultura de baile muy
rica. Incluye el Temate de Facobly (homenaje de las ni�as a los esp�ritus
para que lleven cosechas de arroz abundantes), el baile de Gouessesso y
Danane (una pieza coreogr�fica y gimn�stica ejecutada por j�venes con
mascaras y con zancos de 3 metros), as� como el baile llamado Gouah (en la
cual j�venes expresan su gratitud a los dioses).
Tch�Tch� recibi� el Premio de la UNESCO en 1999 en el Festival de Artes y
Espect�culos Africanos de Abidj�n. La compa��a recibi� igualmente el
segundo premio de la Reuni�n Coreogr�fica de �frica en Madagascar en el a�o
1999 y el Premio al Mejor Artista Novel de Radio Francia Internacional en
Paris, del a�o 2000.
Letila Mitchell
Fiji
Director de Pasifik Dance Theatre, una compa��a de baile basada en Suva,
Fiji y en Londres desde 1997, Letila Mitchell juega un papel importante en
el �rea cultural del Pacifico. Dirigi� art�sticamente el 9no Festival de
Artes del Pacifico y en el a�o 2000 fund� la PICA, (Asociaci�n Cultural
Isla Pacifica).
Naci� en Australia, de herencia Rotuman y se gradu� en el National
Institute of Dramatic Arts de Sydney antes de crear el Fu Helava Dance
Troupe, en Suva, donde act�a como gerente y actor de performance.
No man"s gone now
G�ara Projects
Bailar�n: Opiyo Okach

Kenia
Recibi� el Premio SACD al Nuevo Talento en Coreograf�a (2003) y el Premio
holand�s Fundaci�n Pr�ncipe Klaus para la Cultura y Desarrollo (2005),
Opiyo Okach ha sido un catalizador de una nueva profundidad de reflexi�n
intelectual y motiv� el desarrollo de nuevas perspectivas y lenguajes en el
baile de �frica oriental. Es director art�stico de la Fundaci�n G�ara
Dance, la primera compa��a de baile contempor�neo en Kenia, la cual el
fund� en el 2002.
'No Man�s Gone Now� ha sido creado para la secci�n �Vif du Sujet� del
Festival de Avignon, un programa que necesita que el bailar�n elija un
core�grafo con el cual tiene que crear un solo. Opiyo Okach eligi� a Julyen
Hamilton para una composici�n improvisada e instant�nea, cuestionando la
relaci�n performer-autor / bailar�n-core�grafo.
Lost Face� perdu
Qudus Onikeku
Nigeria
LOST FACE�perdu fue creado en 2004 y mereci� un premio del Centro Cultural
Franc�s en Lagos, donde para muchos significa un nuevo amanecer de la danza
africana contempor�nea.
Qudus representa unos de los pocos africanos que ha tenido la suerte de
descubrir su talento muy temprano y que ha hecho todo lo posible por
desarrollarlo.
Desde peque�o aprendi� por s� mismo el arte del baile y de la acrobacia,
antes de participar en Ongbeats Arts, un conservatorio de danza de la
ciudad de Lagos. Recibi� m�s entrenamiento con los Alajotas de Ibadan y hoy
trabaja con la compa��a Heddy Maalem, a la vez que es estudiante del Centre
National des Arts du Cirque en Francia.
Ha participado en varias creaciones coreogr�ficas, encuentros, talleres,
masterclasses, performances y festivales en Europa y �frica. Durante los
�ltimos nueve a�os ha viajado a 18 pa�ses del mundo como embajador de la
danza nigeriana.
CONCIERTOS
Andy Palacio y la Garifuna Revival Band
Belice
Fundado hace siete anos el Proyecto Garifuna All-Stars une la vieja
generaci�n y la joven generaci�n de artistas de Am�rica Central y del
Caribe. Incre�blemente hermoso y accesible, aun con ra�ces �nicas y
tradicionales, este �lbum introducir� en el mundo de la m�sica esta
desconocida y espec�fica cultura.
Ubicados cerca de las costas caribe�as de Belice, Guatemala y Honduras, los
Garifunas hablan un idioma �nico que mezcla las lenguas de los Indios
Caribes y de �frica occidental y su m�sica refleja tambi�n los elementos
de cada tradici�n.
Andy Palacio es el artista m�s popular de Belice y ha sido muy activo en la
preservaci�n y promoci�n de la cultura Garifuna. Se une con estrellas que
son leyendas locales para producir un proyecto musical eterno.
Bare Essentials Band
Jamaica
Esta instituci�n musical jamaiquina fue formada por un grupo de amigos de
la segundaria cuando empezaron a tocar en el YMCA de Kingston en los anos
1970-71 durante los d�as gloriosos de Sing Out Jamaica. Con 35 anos de
experiencia, la orquestra incluye tres cantantes y tiene un repertorio que
favorece el rock jamaiquino, ska, reggae, soca, y R& B.
EL l�der Errol Lee dice que la experiencia acumulada durante 30 anos ha
dado a la orquestra mucha versatilidad y que se alegra mucho al ver las
caras contentas en la pista de baile cuando la gente escucha una de sus
canciones favoritas.
Bare Essentials ha grabado varios sencillos y 5 �lbumes. El �ltimo �xito
se llama Hurricane Love de la JAAVA Compilaci�n, escrito por Errol Lee y
cantado por Dwight Richards y The Best of Bare Essentials - una selecci�n
de �xitos de los �ltimos 30 a�os. Los �xitos m�s famosos son �Back a Yard�,
la historia de Lawrence Yagga Rowe, quien encabez� el tour rebelde de
cr�quet en Sud�frica, Umbayaya Oh, una canci�n que describe la vida de una
aldea en �frica y �Miss Jamaica�, un comentario sobre los concursos de
belleza.
Bongo Love
Zimbabwe
Es un descubrimiento del Festival Music Crossroads festival. Bongo Love
surgi� durante la Guerra en Zimbabwe, utilizando los tambores y canciones
de su pueblo para no perder para siempre las tradiciones orales. Pertenece
a una l�nea de jefes y reyes, que han heredado su talento musical, de
cuentero de historias y su esp�ritu a los EE.UU., donde ha compartido estos
incre�bles sonidos y palabras l�ricas y provocadoras con m�sicos y oyentes.
Bongo Love es un aut�ntico artista africano apreciado por amantes de muchos
tipos de m�sica. Su m�sica ha sido descrita como alegre, muy bailable y
reparadora. Musicantes conocidos y cr�ticos de m�sica han aplaudido sus
composiciones originales. Ha grabado tres CDs y est� terminando el cuarto.
Culture Musical Club
Zanzibar
El Culture Musical Club es la m�s grande, prol�fica y exitosa taarab
orquesta de Zanz�bar. Ofrecen el mejor de la m�sica taarab en el estilo
Swahili. Han hecho numerosos performances en Stone Town, aldeas de
Zanz�bar y de Tanzania. Han realizado exitosas giras por Francia, B�lgica,
Reino Unido, Alemania, Suiza, EE.UU., Arabia e Isla Reuni�n.
Sus CDs, Spices of Zanzibar, Bashraf, Waridi y The Music of Zanzibar han
hecho el nombre Culture Musical Club famoso en todo el mundo y sus ensayos
en el club house se ha convertido en una atracci�n tur�stica que no afecta
el hecho de que los ensayos se conviertan en encuentros sociales donde la
gente disfruta la m�sica.
K�k�l�
Rep�blica Democr�tica de Congo
K�k�l�, en el idioma lingala significa �lianas�, ramas de la selva que
todav�a se lanzan de los puentes para conectar con las orillas del r�o. La
palabra k�k�l� es un s�mbolo, una m�sica que conecta generaciones, sin
olvidar que todas son tributarias de un solo tipo de m�sica que todos
aprecian. No hay que olvidar que durante decenas, �frica ha bailado gracias
a la m�sica congole�a. Participan en K�k�l�: Nyboma Mwan Dido
(N�gro-Succ�s, African All Stars, Quatre Etoiles); Syran Mbenza (La Banita,
Dynamic Jazz, Somo-Somo, African All Stars, Kass Kass,QuatreEtoiles);
Loko-Masengo (Madjesi, Jamel-National, N�gro-Succ�s, Vox-Africa, V�v�, Les
Trois Fr�res); Bumba Massa (Cubana-Jazz, Conga 68, Carrousel, Lovy du
Za�re, O.K. Jazz); y Wuta Mayi (Jamel-National, Bamboula,
Continental,O.K.Jazz,QuatreEtoiles).
Lang�i
Congo Brazzaville
�Lang�i� en el idioma ingala significa �color.� El grupo se fund� hace dos
a�os pero Lang �i se ha convertido en un nombre muy conocido en Congo
Brazzaville. Es un d�o, uno negro, uno blanco de Oupta y de K�b�n, con una
combinaci�n de voces que provoca resultados apasionados. Sus espect�culos
tienen calidad r�tmicas y mucho colorido.
Favoritos durante el Festival de Fespam festival, su m�sica se sit�a entre
�frica y el Occidente, combinando con sutileza idiomas y ritmos �tnicos
congole�os con los estilos de la variedad, funk y jazz. Ofrecen un Nuevo
color a la paleta musical congole�a, lejos de los clich�s de Ndombolo.
Lang�i canta en varias lenguas del Congo, incluyendo lari, mbochi, t�k� and
lingala, unificando los grupos �tnicos heridos despu�s de tantos a�os de
devastaci�n y guerra civil. Sus canciones tienen un mensaje muy pertinente
para los congole�os pero tambi�n contiene un mensaje universal.
Lang�i ha gravado un CD a promocional y su �lbum saldr� a finales de 2006.
Malouma
Mauritania
Malouma es la primera mujer de Mauratania que ha introducido la m�sica
moderna de Mauritania. Hemos tenido la suerte descubrir a Malouma en 1998
cuando sali� su primer �lbum �Desert of Eden', Malouma es una artista,
compositora e interprete muy talentosa con una voz extraordinaria.
Su m�sica combina sonidos tradicionales y modernos mezclando estilos
occidentales con la m�sica mora del Sahara y a�ade guitarras el�ctricas a
los instrumentos tradicionales como el tidinit.
Su anclaje es tradicional pero su m�sica se inscribe en la modernidad,
inspirada por las canciones del desierto y nadando con el ritmo del r�o
Senegal, en un lugar donde cruzan las melod�as de �frica occidental, del
mundo �rabe y Berbera, entre el Sahel y las sabanas. Su m�sica es �nica. Es
conocida tambi�n como militante y portavoz de los derechos de la mujer en
un pa�s musulm�n.
Manou Gallo
Costa de Marfil
Despu�s de dos temporadas intensas, productivas y exitosas, haciendo m�s de
100 conciertos en Europa, �frica y EE. UU., Manou Gallo empieza con
exclusividad su Nuevo tour durante el Festival ACP de Santo Domingo. Acaba
de terminar su �ltimo �lbum que saldr� en 2007.
Manou es una mujer africana moderna igual que su m�sica, etnicidad y
cultura. Contempor�nea y cosmopolita, encuentra su inspiraci�n durante sus
viajes en el mundo y su vida en Europa, manteniendo sus ra�ces djiboi en la
Costa de Marfil.
Su m�sica es una fusi�n de poliritmos africanos con blues, funk, groove y
rock. Sus canciones hablan de �frica, de la Costa de Marfil, sus ciudades,
sus mujeres, sus dolores y alegr�as. Esta abriendo con fuego el camino
para una nueva generaci�n de m�sica africana.
Mayra Andrade
Cabo Verde
Mayra Andrade naci� a Cuba pero sus padres son de Cabo Verde. Ha vivido en
Cabo Verde, Senegal, Angola y Alemania. Cuando ten�a 16 a�os, durante los
Juegos franc�fonos en Ottawa Hull, Canad�, gan� para Cabo Verde la primera
medalla internacional de oro. Eso tuvo una importancia grand�sima para un
peque�o pa�s (10 islitas, 500knm donde la m�sica es casi la �nica cosa que
se puede exportar). Desde entonces Mayra ha realizado numerosos conciertos.
En enero del 2005, despu�s de haber participado en festivales en Nantes,
Rennes, Africajarc y apoyado a Cesaria Evora, Enrico Macias y el cubano
Ernesto Tito Puentes, Charles Aznavour la invito para grabar con el, en un
d�o, una canci�n de su nuevo �lbum.
Portavoz de la cultura del Cabo Verde, Mayra impone su estilo �nico en la
tarima. Tiene una voz profunda, calurosa y suave. Puede cambiar con una
facilitad incre�ble de Moma a Funana y de Coladeira a Batuque a�adiendo su
toque personal en estilo jazz.
Su personalidad y talentos llevan un brisa de ox�geno en la m�sica de las
islas de Cabo Verde, una herencia que mezcla ritmos africanos y ritmos del
Viejo Continente.
Menwar and Saga�
Islas Mauricio
Menwar es el embajador m�s creativo de la M�sica Sega de las Islas
Mauricio. Su m�sica es muy tradicional y sus ra�ces son africanas. Empez�
su carrera hace 30 a�os y hoy est� considerado como uno de los artistas m�s
importantes de la isla. Todos han reconocido sus talentos de percusionista.
Fund� una escuela donde ense�� su propio m�todo de tocar el �ravanne�, el
instrumento de percusi�n m�s importante en la m�sica Sega. Tambi�n utiliza
instrumentos inventados por �l mismo, como la �kanenba� utilizando flores
de ca�a o �pistacho� con man�.
Despu�s de haber experimentado con varios enfoques, cre� un nuevo concepto
de m�sica sega con su grupo Saga�. Sus palabras expresan las dificultades
de los mauritanos.
El grupo tiene 5 percusionistas polivalentes que utilizan instrumentos
musicales de Oc�ano �ndico y de �frica y una guitarra el�ctrica que le
imprime fuerza a su voz. Menwar mezcla el ritmo de la isla con blues, funk
y elementos africanos para ofrecer una experiencia musical criolla �nica,
que refleja su creatividad, poes�a y b�squeda permanente de nuevos sonidos
de la m�sica sega.
Mungal Patasar and Pantar
Trinidad y Tobago
Hay que imaginar la mezcla de dos de los m�s originales instrumentos: la
Antigua citar de la m�sica cl�sica de la India y el �nico instrumento
musical inventado en el siglo XX: el steepan. Luego hay que a�adir los
ritmos complejos de la tabla que combinan con la sutileza de un
percusionista de jazz o la din�mica de un percusionista africano, mezclar
melod�as de la calipso derivadas de �frica y de Europa, sin olvidar las
cl�sicas ragas de la India.
La orquestra Mungal Patasar y Pantar fue fundada en 1994 por Mungal
Patasar, bien conocido por sus experimentaciones con m�sica india cl�sica,
calipso y jazz.
Empez� como mandolinista en 1965 y particip� en varias orquestas de la
India y bandas sonoras de pel�culas de la India. Recibi� una beca par
estudiar shastra sangeet.
Aun su primera pasi�n es shastra sangeet, Mungal sigui� en el camino de la
m�sica fusi�n. Grab� su primer �lbum en 1996, �Nirvana� con su orquestra
Pantar. El �xito fue tal que Virgin Records de Francia le propuso que grabe
su segundo �lbum Dreadlocks con ellos.
Nfithe
Mozambique
Nfithe, "The Warlocks", es un grupo musical de la ciudad de Beira en el
norte de Mozambique. Estos ocho j�venes est�n juntos desde el 2002,
inspirados por sus tradiciones africanas para crear una m�sica original y
moderna, focalizados en la m�sica bailable.
Los textos reflejan sus vidas y preocupaciones, el sufrimiento de los
ni�os, el SIDA o la guerra, pero mantienen en sus canciones un sentido del
humor. Narran la historia de un gato que dej� escapar a un rat�n por que
le gustaba la carne de calidad�, cuando finalmente obtiene su carne, el
gato invita a los ratones para que participen en su fiesta.
Nfithe obtuvo el premio del Music Crossroads Mozambique Festival 2006
(Jeunesses Musicales Internacionales) en Maputo.
Sus conciertos hierven con una energ�a tremenda y todos los espectadores

Omar P�ne
Senegal
En 1976 las calles de Dakar est�n divididas en dos partes. De un lado, los
fan�ticos de Youssou N�Dour y sus Estrellas. Del otro lado, aquellos de
Omar P�ne y su Super Diamono. Mientras que Youssouf cantaba sonidos de
fuego m�balax, Omar creaba su estilo propio. Sus ra�ces siguieron siendo
senegaleses pero su m�sica formada por jazz, funk e influenzas afro-cubanas
y su ni�ez pasada en las calles lo han convertido en un h�roe para los
estudiantes, la gente sin trabajo y de los pueblos.
En 1972, Baila Diagne estaba buscando a un cantante para su grupo la
Orquestra Kadd y encontr� a Omar P�ne. As� empez� su carrera. Tres a�os y
un �lbum mas tarde, la Orquestra Kadd fusion� con otros grupos de Dakar
para crear Super Diamono (que significa �generaci�n� en la lengua woloff).
Juntos han grabado varios sencillos incluyendo Soweto en 1987. Omar Pene
hasta ahora ha firmado por lo menos 600 canciones.
El artista es m�s que un simple cantante. Sus textos han estructurado su
carrera. Con Afsud-Senegal (l�Amical des Fans du Super Diamono, o Super
Diamono Fan Club) creado en 1989, trabaj� para mejorar la vida de los
senegaleses. Patrocina el Festival Banlieue Rythme, cuyo objetivo es
mejorar la vida en la zona obrera de Guediawaye.
Recibi� el Premio Kora de Oro en Johannesburgo en 1998. Omar P�ne es una
leyenda viva en su pa�s y tambi�n en el mundo.
Simon Nwambeben
Camer�n
Simon Nwambeben naci� en 1976, en la ciudad de Bafia, ubicada a 120 Km. de
Yaound�, la capital de Camer�n. Creci� en la parte occidental de esta
regi�n en una familia de musicantes. Cuando �l ten�a 19 a�os, el director
de la compa��a Royal Deluxe street theatre lo vio en un concierto. Lo
invit� a Nantes, Francia, donde trabaj� durante 5 a�os y donde fue el
director de espect�culos musicales �Petits contes n�gres� (�Peque�os
cuentos negros�) as� como �Petits contes chinois revus et corrig�s par les
n�gres.� (�Peque�os cuentos chinos revisados y corregidos por los negros�).
Con las influencias de los ritmos Bant� y la tradici�n Bafia, empez� a
crear su estilo propio, el Bitibak. En su regi�n, bitibak es el nombre
dado a una mezcla de varias hojas y matas utilizada para el tratamiento de
la malaria y fiebres.
Con su guitarra, apoyado por percusiones muy finas y dos vocalistas, Simon
nos lleva en un universo de poes�a, sencillez y humanidad. Sus canciones
en bafia y franc�s, reflejan sus deseos de paz, tolerancia y amor de la vida.

Amazones, maestras de los tambores
Guinea v�a Montreal
�Anoche, Ile d�Orl�ans estaba bailando al ritmo de sonidos africanos.
Amazones, un grupo de mujeres de Guinea percusionistas, sin miedo de romper
tab�, tenia la audiencia encantada.�
�En Guinea, solo hombres tienen el derecho de jugar con algunos
instrumentos � el djemb�, el krin, el bolon y el doundoun (tambor). Se
puede imaginar el efecto producido cuando una mujer como Fatoumata Kouyat�
se siente detr�s de un balafon, un instrumento real que anteriormente se
pod�a jugar exclusivamente para el rey Soso.
�La revoluci�n feminista empez� en Guinea [�]. Durante horas, los
musicantes vestidas con sus hermosos �boubou� y koris (ropas con caracoles)
fascinaban a los espectadores.
�La intenci�n fue ofrecer una alimentaci�n intelectual pero la idea mayor
del espect�culo es sobretodo proponer una vitrina de las tradiciones de las
cuatro regiones culturales de Guinea. De Sonis�n�, el ritmo de los
paisanos cuando trabajan en el campo hasta Doundounba, la m�sica de las
ceremonias de los pescadores, Amazones nos ense�aron sus talentos. Para
terminar el espect�culo, los ruidosos ritmos del Soli, normalmente
reservados solo para la ceremonia de circuncisi�n de los hombres
adolescentes. Durante esta noche cada persona presente sent�a que ten�a un

Racine Mapou de Azor

El �xito de Racine Mapou de Azor es la prueba del reconocimiento de la
cultura vudu a trav�s la m�sica y la aceptaci�n de la identidad haitiana
por los africanos.
Los miembros del grupo, todos practicando el vud�, hablan abiertamente de
sus enlaces con las tradiciones y el universo simb�lico del vud�. Quieren
mantener una conexi�n con las ra�ces de esta tradici�n con la imagen del
Mapou, el �rbol sagrado del vud�. El mapou tiene ra�ces exteriores
impresionantes donde, dicen, viven los esp�ritus.
Con sus cantos, percusi�n, tambores y congas, Racine Mapou de Azor hacen
m�sica tradicional, llamada pura �rasin� (ra�z) sin instrumentos el�ctricos
o modernos. Arriba del ritmo infatigable de los tambores rada, petro y
rara, surge la poderosa voz de Azor, con las caracter�sticas de los
oficiantes de las ceremonias del vud�, acompa�ada por un coro de mujeres.
Es al mismo tiempo, una celebraci�n de dioses del vud�, la confirmaci�n
de sus relaciones con las ra�ces vud� y tambi�n un comentario sobre temas
pol�ticos y la lucha de los artistas.
Despu�s de 9 a�os, han grabado 7 discos, varios tours internacionales y un
documental, Ha�ti, c�ur battant de Carl Lafontant, Racine Mapou de Azor
han mantenido la autenticidad de su m�sica tradicional pero utilizando
t�cnicas modernas de difusi�n. Eso ha permitido su impacto en el mundo
musical haitiano.
Los Tambores de Gishora
Burundi
Hace mucho tiempo, en Burundi, los tambores fueron mucho m�s que
instrumentos musicales. Fueron objetos sagrados, utilizados solamente
durante circunstancias excepcionales y ceremonias rituales.
Ubicado en el municipio de Giheta, Gishora fue el �rea de los tambores de
ascendencia Banyagisaka. Dos tambores sagrados, llamados Ruciteme (�para
aquellos limpiamos�) y Muriminwa (�para aquellos cultivamos�), est�n
conservados en el Palacio de los Tambores.
En un bosque sagrado de la Colina Gishora, la gente ofrec�a comida al pit�n
sagrado del santuario. Gishora sigue siendo un lugar hist�rico muy popular
para aquellos que desean conocer los tambores de Burundi. Es una tradici�n
que pasa de generaci�n a generaci�n y a pesar de todas las crisis pol�ticas
del pa�s, el ritmo de los tambores no ha cambiado.

Camer�n
Anggy Ha�f naci� en 1974 y ha heredado su talento de su mama. Se mudo a
Yaound� donde naci� su inter�s en el dise�o de moda. Su apariencia original
facilit� tambi�n su trabaja como modelo.
Inaugur� su primera colecci�n, Ancestrale, en 2001 para el concurso Top
Model de Camer�n. En 2002, dirigi� el desfile de moda mensual en el Hotel
Milton de Yaund� y fue el dise�ador oficial del concurso Miss Camer�n en
2002.
Personaje importante en el mundo de la moda, ha dirigido la agencia Bise
Model desde 2001, inaugur� la Asociaci�n de J�venes Dise�adores
Cameruneses, organiz� el festival de j�venes dise�adores y peluqueros el
mismo a�o y finalmente el Kamerly, el espect�culo de moda m�s grande �Made
in Kamer� en el a�o 2002.
En su arte, Anggy Ha�f re�ne el hombre y la naturaleza. Utiliza materiales
naturales para fabricar sus ropas: rafia, hojas, ra�ces, fibras de palmeras
y material reciclado. Se inspira de la cultura africana m�s profunda, pero
no tiene miedo a mezclar telas modernas y tradicionales.
Leslie N�rette
Hait�
Leslie Ga�lle N�rette tiene 25 a�os y es haitiana. Desde siempre interesada
por todas formas de arte. Pero un deseo natural la empuj� para que se
especializara en �reas que existen en armon�a perfecta con un universo
donde formas y movimientos son una sola cosa: artes platicas, dise�o
grafico y moda. Donde estudiaba, gan� el segundo premio en un concurso.
Despu�s de sus estudios, le gustar�a viaja y buscar su inspiraci�n en las
experiencias de los otros. Le encanta la diversidad, la simplicidad y el
surrealismo. Admite tambi�n su amor por la fotograf�a.

Una comunidad, aislada y rural en las monta�as de Papua Nueva Guinea, est�
confrontado las oportunidades pero tambi�n las amenazas de la introducci�n
de una mina de oro en sus tierras. La comunidad ya ha perdido muchas de
sus tradiciones culturales a causa de la evangelizaci�n de los misionarios.
La comunidad decide instigar un �ltimo renacimiento antes de la
destrucci�n total de su cultura en las manos de los intereses mineros y
capitalistas. La pel�cula se convierte, para ellos, en el Arca de Noe,
una nave en la cual van a poner todas las cosas preciosas de su cultura,
que las generaciones futuras podr�an descubrir sobre ellos. Rodeado en HDV,
el director ayuda a un pueblo analfabeto �escribir� lo esencial de su
historia oral y profundiza las reflexiones de esta comunidad sobre su
presente y las presiones del mundo moderno que resultaron en la aceptaci�n

maestros han muerto en los �ltimos a�os. Pero, en Trinidad todav�a quedan
algunos como Mighty Sparrow, Mighty Terror, Bomber, Calypso Rose, y Lord
Superior. En el grupo Calypso at Dirty Jim�s las ultimas estrellas todav�a
lucen pero ha entrado una nueva generaci�n: cantantes de soca y poetas rapso.

Un grupo de ni�os refugiados de la guerra toman un vuelo, en la compa��a de
una monja, a Luanda, la capital de Angola. Al llegar en el aeropuerto de
Luanda, uno de los ni�os, N�dala escapa para descubrir la ciudad. La monja
empieza la b�squeda del hu�rfano. N�dala penetra la ciudad destruida,
imaginando que est� volviendo a la casa de sus difuntos padres.
Al anochecer de esta ciudad degradada, las ilusiones revolucionarias se han
convertido en polvo, los encuentros son dif�ciles y fascinantes. Joka, un
personaje excluido de esta ciudad, ofrece a N�dala un poco de dinero para
que el lo ayude a robar.
Maria Jo�o Ganga naci� in Huambo, Angola en 1964. Estudio cinematograf�a
en la Escuela de pel�culas ESEC en Paris cuando su pa�s padec�a de la
guerra civil. Ha sido asistente director de documentales, pero su trabajo
m�s importante es escribir obras de teatro para ni�os y dirigirlas con
ellos en Luanda.
Mahaleo

Las voces y m�sica de Mahaleo han acompa�ado al pueblo de Madagascar desde

siguen profundamente involucrados en el desarrollo del pa�s, sus carreras
siendo cirujanos, agricultores, soci�logos y miembros del Parlamento.

En un barrio de una ciudad africana, Paito, un ni�o de 12 a�os, vende
dumplins para ayudar a su familia. Un d�a, una pandilla de j�venes ladrones
roba su dinero. El ni�o decide no volver a su casa hasta que recupere el
dinero. Se va por la ciudad y toma el mismo tren que los ladrones.
Buscando trabajo, empieza a vivir en un mercado que durante la noche se
convierte en un dormitorio para los vendedores sin casa.
Encuentra a Xano, un ni�o de su edad. Paito es muy atra�do por la conducta
insolente y sin medio de Xano. A Xano no le gusta trabajar y roba solamente
para evitar vivir con su familia. A pesar de sus diferencias, una amistad
crece entre ellos. Poco a poco, utilizando su creatividad y sus
habilidades a negociar, Paito acumula el dinero perdido pero los ladrones
tambi�n viven en el mercado y roban dinero de los otros ni�os. Representan
una amenaza permanente.
Nacido en Brasil, Licinio Azevedo vive en Mozambique desde 1975. Tiene una
larga carrera haciendo pel�culas y documentales. Ha trabajado en el
Instituido Nacional de Cine en Mozambique, y ha colaborado con Ruy Guerra y
Jean-Luc Godard. Actualmente, trabaja como independiente y es cofundador de

pigmeos Babinga. Gonaba quiere ayudarlos a liberarse de la �gente grande�.
Para �l, el racismo contra ellos es insoportable. Esta aventura y estos
encuentros lo ense�ar�n que la felicidad es la cosa m�s relativa del mundo.
Didier Ou�nangar� naci� un 23 de febrero en Bambari (Rep�blica �frica
Central). En 1983, se mud� a Rennes (Francia), donde ha trabajado como
camar�grafo de la televisi�n francesa FR3. Ha creado en 1995, Afrique
Bretagne Vid�o Production en Bangui.
Bassek ba Kobhio naci� el 1de enero 1957 en Nindje (Camer�n) y trabaj� como
primer asistente del director de la pel�cula Chocolat de Claire Denis en
1987. Ha dirigido FESTAC, un documental corto antes de rodar su primer
largometraje, Sango Malo, en 1991. En 1991, ha creado en su pa�s Les Films
Terre Africaine, una compa��a de producci�n muy activa. Cuatro a�os
despu�s, lanz� �crans Noirs, un festival itinerante en Camer�n, Gab�n y la
Republica Central Africana.

Las pinturas murales de las mujeres Kassenas en Burkina Faso, cerca de la
frontera con Ghana, son famos�simas por la belleza de sus motivos y la
armon�a de sus colores.
Interesado en hacer de estas pinturas su sujeto, Katy Lena Ndiaye eligi�
hacer una comparaci�n entre tradici�n y modernidad, vista a trav�s de
retratos de tres ancianas y su �nieta� que est�n iniciando en el arte
ancestral.
Katy ha hecho una pel�cula con una est�tica muy bien controlada, un retrato
genuino de una comunidad art�stica preocupada por el trema de la
preservaci�n y continuidad de las tradiciones, educaci�n y memoria en un
continente que vive un proceso de cambios fundamentales.

Sud�frica en los a�os 90. Thandeka es una periodista negra atormentada por
los fantasmas del apartheid que encuentra refugio en el alcohol. Su hija,
Simangaliso, ha sido siempre sorda y padece de la indiferencia de su madre.
Anteriormente Thandeka hab�a sido testigo del asesinato de una joven
llamada Dineo. Metua, la madre de Dineo, la pide testificar frente a la
Comisi�n �Verdad y Reconciliaci�n�. Quiere encontrar a los asesinos de su
hija y que indiquen el lugar donde han enterrado el cuerpo de su hija,
segura que eso es la �nica manera de liberar el alma de Dineo. Mientras
tanto, Simangaliso est� preparando un mensaje secreto (un c�digo zul� hecho

Ramadan Suleman naci� en 1955 en Durban (Sud�frica). Fund� el Teatro
Dhlomo, el primer teatro en Johannesburgo. Su primera pel�cula Fools
(1997) gan� el Leopardo de Plata en el Festival de Cine en Locarno y
recibi� el Premio Oumarou Ganda y el premio de la Uni�n Europea de la

Everything is a question of election... the Tango of the Death
questions the idea of the conscientious and inconciente thought,
modestia and the control on itself. It is a meeting with one same one,
an interchange between two worlds, the one of conscientious and the
one of the inconciente, a way that combines the body and the spirit.
Augusto Cuvilas, dancer and core�grafo, were born in 1971 in
Mozambique. It studied in the National School of Dance of Maputo, the
National School of Artes (ENA) in Cuba and the University of Paris
XIII. It was core�grafo and artistic director of the National Company
of Mozambique. It founded his own project, the Cuvilas Project. This
company tries to work with young core�grafos that wish to toil with
different types from dance. Based on his own experience, it maintains
a space opened for the confrontation between the dance of Mozambique
and the contemporary dance.

Haiti
The Ayikodans Dance Company is to 1er group of dance in Haiti
yb is directed by the core�grafo of international recognition
Jeanguysaintus. Ayikodans presents/displays a perfect mixture of
styles of modern and traditional dance. Founded on 1987, Ayikodans
(before Artcho Danse) is representing the rich culture of Haiti in
numbers international events (Trinidad, Puerto Rico, Guadalupe,
Martinica, France, Jamaica, New York, Miami, Dominican Republic,
Spain, Japan...). The company represents the best thing of the Haitian
culture. The drums and dancers are combined to offer spectacles that
catch the attention and shake the spirit.
The group is new a physical and intellectual confirmation of the
aesthetic one in the Haitian dance. Many consider, with good reasons,
that Ayikodans more vibrant young people and of Haiti are the cultural
ambassadors.

Company The 1st Time
Senegal
In 2000, after to have collaborated with numerous directors and
core�grafos, Andr�ya Ouamba, of Pointe Noire, the Congo Brazzaville,
decides to create a company in Dakar, Senegal. The Congolese
core�grafo Chrysogone Diangouaya names Company to 1er Time.
The new piece "Impro-Vis�_2", is inspired of the children of the
streets of Dakar. The company organized factories with the children,
accompanying them in its daily activities and speaking with them. The
result is an abstract presentation of the fights of being able among
them (well-known as "talib�" in Dakar) as well as the trip of I beg
for poor devil and the person who gives a reason to live.
After the first part of this performance of two people, the Compagnie
to 1er Temps will invite to two local core�grafos so that they
participate in the second part, creating together in front of unites
performance the spectators.

Mali
Kettly No�l was born in Port Prince, Haiti. Study like dancer
and actress in Actor Studio de Paris directed by Jack Waltzer. It
developed an interest in profane the Haitian dance and sacred, soon it
began to explore the dances of Benin and Mali. Its work as core�grafa
began in 1989 in Haiti. It was changed in Paris in 1990 and it founded
his first company of dance and created his first choreographic work
Nanlakou, in the House of the Cultures of the World with the support
of the FACIG and the Th��tre Contemporain of the Danse, in 1995.
Benin was the beginning of its African experience, in 1996: "Since I
arrived at Cotonou, treatment to understand what I am doing. Stop to
understand, you share with the others and you are learning through the
process to share." With this approach, it began to teach to young
people of the zone and founded a company with them. Today, each one of
them is member of the National Ballet. At the end of 1996, it arrived
at Mali and it repeated the same program of education. It was the
origin of L'Espace, a study of dance and choreography. It continued
experimenting and it produced several performances: Cousin, Cousine in
2001, Tichelbe in 2002 (�r Prize of 5to African/Indian Ocean
competition in Madagascar and the Prize Better Young Dancer of France
Radio the International) by, Gaou in the 2005 and recently by Errance.
His it works focuses in the sense of the movement, the common roots
and the source that they feed it. Also it founded Dances Bamako Dance,
the international festival of contemporary dance of Bamako.

The Ivory Coast
In B�t�, a language spoken in the center the west of the
Ivory Coast, "tch�tch�" means eagle, representing the power, the
glory and the domination. Those are the forces that push this young
person and ambitious company.
Tch�Tch� was created day 1 of June of 1997, in Abidj�n, the Ivory
Coast. It was the result of the common passion shared by two young
people: Jeety Lebri Bridji, artistic director and B�atrice Komb�,
core�grafa. The four dancers who integrate it, dynamic and working
with a collaboration spirit, represent African urban youth, ready to
discover and to grow.
The western region of the Ivory Coast has a very rich culture of
dance. Temate includes de Facobly (tribute of the children to the
spirits so that they take abundant harvests of rice), the dance of
Gouessesso and Danane (a choreographic and gymnastic piece executed by
young people with you chewed and zancos of 3 meters), as well as the
called dance Gouah (in which young they express his gratitude to the
Gods).
Tch�Tch� received the Prize of UNESCO in 1999 in the Festival of
Arts and African Spectacles of Abidj�n. The company also received the
second prize of the Choreographic Meeting of Africa in Madagascar in
year 1999 and the Prize to the Best Artist Novel de Radio France the
International in Paris, of year 2000.
Letila Mitchell
Fiji
Director of Pasifik Dance Theatre, a company of dance based on
Suva, Fiji and in London from 1997, Letila Mitchell plays an important
role in the cultural area of the Pacifico. He artistic directed 9no
Festival of Arts of the Pacifico and in 2000 he founded the GOAD,
(Cultural Association Pacifica Island).
It was born in Australia, of Rotuman inheritance and of Dramatic Arts
de Sydney graduated in the National Institute before creating the Fu
Helava Dance Troupe, in Suva, where it acts like manager and actor of
performance.

It received Prize SACD to the New Talent in Choreography (2003)
and the Dutch Prize Foundation Prince Klaus for the Culture and
Development (2005), Opiyo Okach it has been a catalyst of a new depth
of intellectual reflection and motivated the development of new
perspective and languages in the dance of Eastern Africa. He is
artistic director of the Foundation G�ara Dance, the first company of
contemporary dance in Kenya, which founded on the 2002.
' Man's Gone Now' has not been created for the section ' Vif du Sujet'
of the Festival of Avignon, a program that needs that the dancer
chooses a core�grafo with which it must create a single one. Opiyo
Okach chose to Julyen Hamilton for an unexpected and instantaneous
composition, questioning the relation
performer-author/dancer-coreo'grafo.
Lost Face� perdu

Nigeria
LOST FACE... perdu was created in 2004 and deserved a prize of the
French Cultural Center in Lakes, where it stops many means a new dawn
of the contemporary African dance.
Qudus represents of the few African that has had the luck to discover
its very early talent and that it has done all the possible one to
develop it.
>From small it by itself learned the art of the dance and the
acrobatics, before participating in Ongbeats Arts, a conservatory of
dance of the city of Lakes. It received more training with the
Alajotas de Ibadan and today it works with the company Heddy Maalem,
simultaneously that is student of Centre National DES Arts du Cirque
in France.
It has participated in several choreographic creations, encounter,

Bare Essentials Band
Jamaica
This jamaiquina musical institution was formed by a group of

Democratic republic of the Congo
K�k�l�, in the language lingala means "lianas", branches of the

The Congo Brazzaville

Omar P�ne
Senegal
In 1976 the streets of Dakar are divided in two parts. Of a
side, the fanatics of Youssou N'Dour and its Stars. Across, those of
Omar P�ne and its Super Diamono. Whereas Youssouf sang fire sounds
m'balax, Omar created its own style. Their roots continued being
senegaleses but their music formed by jazz, funk and influenzas
afro-Cuban and their childhood last in the streets has turned it a
hero for the students, the people without work and of the towns.
In 1972, Diagne Dances was looking for a singer for its group the
Orquestra Kadd and found to Omar P�ne. Thus its race began. Three

groups of Dakar to create Super Diamono (that means "generation" in
the language woloff). Together they have recorded several simple ones
including Soweto in 1987. Omar Penis until now has signed at least 600

their race. With Afsud-Senegal (l'Amical DES Fans du Super Diamono, or
Super Diamono Fan Club) created in 1989, it worked to improve the life
of the senegaleses. It sponsors the Festival Banlieue Rythme, whose
objective is to improve the life in the working zone of Guediawaye.
It received the Prize Kora de Oro in Johannesburg in 1998. Omar P�ne
is an alive legend in its country and also in the world.
Simon Nwambeben
Cameroun
Simon Nwambeben was born in 1976, in the city of Bafia, located
to 120 km of Yaound�, the capital of Cameroun. It grew in the western
part of this region in a family of musicantes. When it was 19 years
old, the director of the company Royal Deluxe street theatre saw it in
a concert. He invited it to Nantes, France, where he worked during 5
years and where contes was the director of musical spectacles "Petits
n�gres" ("Small black stories") as well as "Petits contes chinois even
revus ET corrig�s them n�gres." ("Small Chinese stories reviewed and
corrected by the black").
With the influences of the Bant� rates and the Bafia tradition, it
began to create his own style, the Bitibak. In its region, bitibak is
the name given to a mixture of several leaves and bushes used for the
treatment of the malaria and fevers.
With its guitar, supported by very fine percussions and two
vocalistas, Simon takes to us in a universe of poetry, simplicity and
humanity. Their songs in bafia and French, reflect their desires of
peace, tolerance and love of the life.

Racine Mapou de Azor
Haiti
The success of Racine Mapou de Azor is the test of the

The Drums of Gishora
Burundi
Long ago, in Burundi, the drums were much more that musical
instruments. They were sacred objects, only used during exceptional
circumstances and ritual ceremonies.
Located in the municipality of Giheta, Gishora was the area of the
drums of Banyagisaka ancestry. Two sacred drums, calls Ruciteme ("for
those we cleaned") and Muriminwa ("for those we cultivated"), are
conserved in the Palace of the Drums.
In a sacred forest of the Gishora Hill, people offered food to pit�n
sacred of the sanctuary. Gishora continues being a very popular

Leslie Ga�lle N�rette is 25 years old and is Haitian. From
always interested in all forms of art. But a natural desire pushed it
so that it specialized in areas that exist in perfect harmony with a
universe where forms and movements are a single thing: platicas arts,
grafico design and fashion. Where it studied, it gained the second
prize in an aid.

A community, isolated and rural in mountains of Papua New

A group of children sheltered of the war takes a flight, in the
company of a nun, to Luanda, the capital of Angola. When arriving in
the airport of Luanda, one of the children, N'dala escapes to discover
the city. The nun begins the search of the orphan. N'dala penetrates
the destroyed city, imagining that it is returning to the house of his
late parents.
At dusk of this degraded city, the revolutionary illusions have become
dust, the encounter are difficult and fascinating. Joka, a personage
excluded from this city, offers to N'dala a little money so that it
helps it to rob.
Maria Jo�o Gangue was born in Huambo, Angola in 1964. Study
cinematography in the School of films ESEC in Paris when its country
suffered of the civil war. He has been attending director of
documentary, but its more important work is to write young plays and
to direct them with them in Luanda.

The film, accompanied by melod�as rythmical of the group, follows the
singers traverse its daily lives, giving an image us of the serious
social and economic problems of the town of Madagascar. The talents

Madagascar has created a concrete, poetic and political work.

sing. It remains scared to have sung but Pierre requests to him to

In a district of an African city, Paito, a boy of 12 years, sells
dumplins to help its family. A day, a gang of young thieves robs her
money. The boy decides not to return to his house until he recovers
the money. One goes away by the city and he takes the same train that
the thieves. Looking for work, he begins to live in a market that
during the night becomes a dormitory for the salesmen without house.
He finds to Xano, a boy of his age. Paito very is attracted by the
insolent conduct and without means of Xano. To Xano it does not like
to work and only robs to avoid to live with its family. In spite of
its differences, a friendship grows among them. Little by little,
using its creativity and its abilities to negotiate, Paito accumulates
the lost money but the thieves also live in the market and rob money
of the other children. They represent a permanent threat.
Been born in Brazil, Licinio Azevedo lives in Mozambique from 1975. It
has one long race doing documentary films and. It has worked in the
National Instituted one of Cinema in Mozambique, and has collaborated
with Ruy War and Jean-Luc Godard. At the moment, it works as
independent and he is cofounding of the Company of Production of
Mozambique.

Bassek ba Kobhio was born 1de January 1957 in Nindje (Cameroun) and

before rolling his first largometraje, Bad Sango, in 1991. In 1991, it
has created in his country Them Films Terre Africaine, a company of
very active production. Four years later, �crans Noirs sent, a
traveling festival in Cameroun, Gabon and the African Central
Republica.

through three pictures of old and their "granddaughter" whom they are
initiating in the ancestral art.

South Africa in years 90. Thandeka is a black journalist tormented by
the ghosts of the apartheid that finds refuge in the alcohol. Her
daughter, Simangaliso, have been always deaf and suffer of the
indifference of her mother. Previously Thandeka had been witness of
the murder of a young Dineo call. Metua, the mother of Dineo, requests
it as opposed to to testify the Commission "Truth and Reconciliation".
It wants to find the assassins of his daughter and that indicates the
place where they have buried the body of his daughter, safe that that
is the only way to release the soul of Dineo. Meanwhile, Simangaliso
is preparing a secret message (a zul� code done with per them of
color) as I complete signal to its mother.
Ramadan Suleman was born in 1955 in Durban (South Africa). It founded
the Dhlomo Theater, the first theater in Johannesburg. His first Fools
film (1997) gained the Leopard of Silver in the Festival of Cinema in
Locarno and received the Prize Oumarou Ganda and the prize of the
European Union of Fespaco 1999.

SAINT-DOMINGUE, D.N. - des Artistes africains et des Cara�bes agiront
en octobre pendant le Second Forum de Ministres de Culture des pays
ACP.
La rencontre de ministres de Culture des pays l'Afrique, les Cara�bes
et de Pacifique, qui aura lieu dans la capital dominicaine depuis le
11 � au 21 octobre sera le cadre pour le Festival de Festivals ACP,
qui commencera le 14 du prochain mois et terminera le 21. Pendant ces
journ�es, le public de Saint-Domingue pourra assister de mani�re
gratuite � une s�rie d'activit�s culturelles o� se r�uniront la
danse, le cin�ma, la peinture, l'artisanat, la gastronomie, la fa�on
et les danses traditionnelles des divers pays de l'ACP.
Tant le forum de ministres de Culture comme le festival sont organis�
par le Secr�tariat d'�tat de Culture et le Bureau de l'Ordinateur
National pour les Fonds Europes de D�veloppement (ONFED).
Les artistes et les groupements confirm�s qui agiront sont : Andy
Palais and the Garifuna Revival Band, de Belize ; Bare Essentials Ban
de Jama�que ; Bongo Love, de Zimbabwe ; Culture Musical Club, de
Zanz�bar ; K�k�l� de R�publique D�mocratique du Congo ; Lang'i

D�az, Xiomara Fortune, Sonia Sauvage, Guarionex Aquino, Macarand�,
et les corps de ballet folklorique, entre eux le Ballet Classique
National, le Ballet Folklorique de l'UASD, le Ballet Folklorique
National, le Ballet Cass� et le Ballet Folklorique Santiago.
L'horaire de d�but de chaque est programm� � aux 7 H. de la nuit de
chaque journ�e pour la premi�re fonction, et aux 8 H. de la nuit
pour le d�but de la deuxi�me.
L'�v�nement culturel r�unira � un nombreux groupe d'artistes qui
repr�sentent aux pays des membres de la Communaut� ACP, avec
l'intention de d�gager, d'exhiber et de mettre en relief toutes les

Tout est une question d'�lection... le Tango du D�c�s interroge
l'id�e de la pens�e conciente et inconciente, la modestie et le
contr�le sur lui-m�me. Un chemin qui combine le corps et l'esprit
est une r�union avec un m�me, un �change entre deux mondes, celui
de de ce qui est conciente et celui de de ce qui est inconciente.
Cuvilas auguste, danseur et core�grafo, est n� en 1971 en
Mozambique. Il a �tudi� dans l'�cole Nationale de Danse de Maputo,
l'�cole Nationale d'Arts (ENA) au Cuba et � l'Universit� de Paris
XIII. Core�grafo et directeur artistique de la Compagnie Nationale de
Mozambique a �t�. A fond� son projet propre, le Projet Cuvilas.
Cette compagnie pr�tend travailler avec de jeunes core�grafos qui
souhaitent laborar avec diff�rents types de danse. Bas� son
exp�rience propre, il maintient un espace ouvert pour la
confrontation entre la danse de Mozambique et la danse contemporaine.

L'Ayikodans Danse Compagnie est le 1er groupe de danse � Ha�ti yb
est dirig� par le core�grafo de reconnaissance internationale
Jeanguysaintus. Ayikodans pr�sente un parfait m�lange de styles de
danse moderne et traditionnelle. Fond� en 1987, Ayikodans (avant
Artcho Danse) HA en repr�sentant � la riche culture de Ha�ti
nombres des �v�nements internationaux (Trinit�, Port Riche,
Guadalupe, Martinique, la France, Jama�que, New York, Miami,
R�publique dominicaine, l'Espagne, le Japon...). La compagnie
repr�sente le meilleur de la culture haitiana. Les tambours et les
danseurs sont combin�s pour offrir des spectacles qui recueillent
l'attention et agitent l'esprit.
Le groupe est une confirmation physique et intellectuelle de de ce qui
est nouvelle esth�tique dans la danse haitiana. Beaucoup
consid�rent, avec de bonnes raisons, qu'ayikodans sont les
ambassadeurs culturels plus jeunes et vibrants de Ha�ti.

Senegal
Durant l'ann�e 2000, apr�s avoir collabor� avec de nombreux
directeurs et core�grafos, Andr�ya Ouamba, de Pointe Noire, le Congo
Brazzaville, d�cide de cr�er une compagnie � Dakar, le S�n�gal.
Le core�grafo congole�o Chrysogone Diangouaya est nomm� par
Compagnie 1er Temps.
La nouvelle pi�ce "Impro-Vis�_2", s'inspire des enfants des rues de
Dakar. La compagnie a organis� des ateliers avec les enfants, en les
accompagnant dans ses activit�s quotidiennes et en parlant avec eux.
Le r�sultat est une pr�sentation abstraite des luttes de pouvoir
entre eux (connaissances comme "talib�" � Dakar) ainsi que le voyage
d'un mendiant malheureux et la personne qui est donn�e par une raison
pour vivre.
Apr�s la premi�re partie de cette performance de deux personnes, la
Compagnie 1er Temps invitera � deux core�grafos locaux pour qu'ils
prennent part la seconde partie, en cr�ant ensemble il unisse
performance face aux spectateurs.

Le Mali
Kettly No�l est n� en Port Prince, le Ha�ti. �tude comme danseur et
actrice dans l'Acteur Studio de Paris dirig� par Jack Waltzer. Il a
d�velopp� un int�r�t dans la danse haitiano profane et sacr�e,
donc il a commenc� � explorer celles tu danses du B�nin et du
Mali. Son travail comme core�grafa a commenc� en 1989 � Ha�ti. On
a chang� � Paris en 1990 et a fond� sa premi�re compagnie de danse
et a cr�� sa premi�re oeuvre chor�graphique Nanlakou, dans la
Maison des Cultures du Monde avec l'appui du FACIG et du Th��tre
Contemporain de la Danse, en 1995.
Le B�nin a �t� le d�but de son exp�rience africaine, en 1996 :
"Depuis que je suis arriv� � Cotonou, j'essaye de comprendre ce que
je fais. Arr�tez comprendre, je partage avec les autres et j'apprends
� travers le processus � partager." Avec cette analyse, il a
commenc� � enseigner � des jeunes de la zone et a fond� une
compagnie avec eux. Aujourd'hui, chacun de d'eux est membre du Ballet
National. Fin 1996, il est arriv� au Mali et a r�p�t� le m�me
programme d'enseignement. Une �tude de danse a �t� l'origine de
L'Espace, et une chor�graphie. Il a continu� � �prouver et a
produit plusieurs performances : Cousin, Cousine en 2001, Tichelbe en
2002 (�r Prix le 5to African/Indian Ocean competition en Madagascar
et du Prix Mieux Jeune Danseur de Radio France International) par,
Gaou dans le 2005 et r�cemment par Errance.
Son il travaille il est focalis� dans le sens du mouvement, les
racines et la source communs qui le nourrissent. Il a aussi fond�
Dansez Bamako Dansez, le festival international de danse contemporaine
de Bamako.

La C�te d'Ivoire
En B�t�, une langue parl�e dans le centre ouest de la C�te
d'Ivoire, "tch�tch�" signifie aigle, en repr�sentant le pouvoir, la
gloire et la domination. Celles-l� sont les forces qui poussent cette
compagnie jeune et ambitieuse.
Tch�Tch� a �t� cr�� le 1 juin 1997, en Abidj�n, la C�te
d'Ivoire. �a a �t� le r�sultat de la passion commune partag� par
deux jeunes : Jeety Lebri Bridji, directeur artistique et B�atrice
Komb�, core�grafa. Les quatre danseurs qui l'int�grent, dynamiques
et en travaillant avec un esprit de collaboration, repr�sentent la
jeunesse urbaine africaine, les listes pour d�couvrir et cro�tre.
La r�gion occidentale de la C�te d'Ivoire a une culture de danse
tr�s riche. Il inclut le Temate de Facobly (hommage des enfants aux
esprits pour qu'ils portent des r�coltes de riz abondantes), la danse
de Gouessesso et Danane (une pi�ce chor�graphique et gimn�stica
ex�cut�e par des jeunes avec des masques et avec zancos de 3
m�tres), ainsi que la danse appel�e Gouah (dans lequel jeunes ils
expriment leur gratitude aux dieux).
Tch�Tch� a re�u le Prix de l'UNESCO en 1999 dans le Festival Arts
et Spectacles africains d'Abidj�n. La compagnie a �galement re�u le
second prix de la R�union Chor�graphique de l'Afrique en Madagascar
durant l'ann�e 1999 et le Prix au Meilleur Artiste Novel de Radio
France Internationale � Paris, de l'ann�e 2000.
Letila Mitchell
Fiji
Directeur de Pasifik Dansez Theatre, une compagnie de danse bas�e en
Suva, Fiji et � Londres depuis 1997, Letila Mitchell joue l'important
r�le dans le secteur culturel du Pacifique. Il a artistiquement
dirig� le 9no Festival d'Arts du Pacifique et durant l'ann�e 2000 il
a fond� la PIQUE, (Association Culturelle �le Pacifique).
Il est n� en Australie, d'h�ritage Rotuman et on a gradu� dans le
National Institute of Dramatic Arts de Sydney avant de cr�er le Fu
Helava Danse Troupe, en Suva, o� il agit comme directeur et acteur de
performance.

A re�u le Prix SACD au Nouveau Talent en Chor�graphie (2003) et le
Prix n�erlandais Fondation Prince Klaus pour la Culture et je
D�veloppe (2005), Opiyo Okach a �t� un catalyseur d'une nouvelle
profondeur de r�flexion intellectuelle et a motiv� le d�veloppement
nouvelles perspectives et de langages dans la danse de l'Afrique
orientale. Il est directeur artistique de la Fondation G�ara Dansez,
la premi�re compagnie de danse contemporaine au Kenya, laquelle le a
fond� le 2002.
'Non Le Mans Gone Now 'a �t� cr�� pour la section 'Vif du Sujet
'du Festival d'Avignon, un programme qui a besoin que le danseur
choisisse un core�grafo avec lequel il doit cr�er un seul. Opiyo
Okach a choisi � Julyen Hamilton pour une composition inattendue et
instantan�e, en interrogeant la relation
performer-autor/bailar�n-core�grafo.

LOST FACE... perdu a �t� cr�� en 2004 et a m�rit� un prix du
Centre Culturel fran�ais � Lagos, o� pour beaucoup il signifie un
nouveau lever du jour de la danse africaine contemporaine.
_ Qudus repr�senter quelques de le peu de africain qui avoir avoir le
chance de d�couvrir son talent tr�s pr�coce et qui avoir faire tout
le ce qui est possible pour d�velopper le.
Depuis petit a appris par lui-m�me l'art de la danse et de
l'acrobatie, avant de prendre part en Ongbeats Arts, un conservatoire
de danse de la ville de Lagos. Il a re�u aujourd'hui davantage
d'entra�nement avec les Alajotas d'Ibadan et travaille avec la
compagnie Heddy Maalem, en m�me temps que Cirque en France est
�tudiant de le Centre National donnes Arts du.
Il a pris part plusieurs cr�ations chor�graphiques, rencontres,
ateliers, masterclasses, performances et festivals en Europe et en
Afrique. Pendant les derni�res neuf ann�es il a voyag� � 18 pays
du monde comme ambassadeur de la danse nig�rienne.

Fond� il y a sept ans le Projet Garifuna All-Stars unit la vieille
g�n�ration et la jeune g�n�ration d'artistes de l'Am�rique
Centrale et del les Cara�bes. Incroyablement beau et accessible,
encore avec des racines uniques et traditionnelles, cet album
introduira dans le monde de la musique cette culture inconnue et
sp�cifique.
Plac�s pr�s des c�tes des Cara�bes Belize, le Guatemala et du
Honduras, les Garifunas parlent une langue unique qui m�lange les
langues des Indiens Des Cara�bes et de l'Afrique occidentale et sa
musique r�fl�chie aussi les �l�ments de chaque tradition.
Andy Palais est l'artiste le plus populaire que Belize et a �t�
tr�s actif dans la pr�servacion et la promotion de la culture
Garifuna. Il est uni avec des �toiles qui sont des l�gendes locales
pour produire un projet musical �ternel.

Cette institution musicale jamaiquina a �t� form�e par un groupe
d'amis de de ce qui est segundaria quand ils ont commenc� � toucher
dans l'YMCA de Kingston durant les ann�es 1970-71 pendant les jours

l'orquestra inclut trois chanteurs et a un r�pertoire qui favorise le
rock jamaiquino, ska, reggae, soca, et R& B.
Le chef Errol Lit dit que l'exp�rience accumul�e pendant 30 ann�es
a donn� � l'orquestra beaucoup de versatilit� et que se r�jouit
beaucoup en voyant les faces heureuses dans la piste de danse quand
les gens �couteront une de ses chansons favorites.
Bare Essentials a enregistr� plusieurs simples et 5 �lbumes. Le
dernier succ�s est appel� Hurricane Love de la JAAVA Compilation,
�crit par Errol Lit et chant� par Dwight Richards et The Best of
Bare Essentials - une s�lection de succ�s des derni�res 30 ann�es.
Les succ�s les plus c�l�bres sont "Back � Yard", l'histoire de
Lawrence Yagga Rowe, qui a dirig� le tour rebelle de cr�quet en
Afrique du Sud, Umbayaya Oh, une chanson qui d�crit la vie d'un
village en Afrique et "Miss Jama�que", un commentaire sur les
concours de beaut�.
Bongo Love
ZimbabweC'est une d�couverte du Festival Music Crossroads festival. Bongo
Love est apparu pendant la Guerre en Zimbabwe, en utilisant les
tambours et les chansons de son peuple pour ne pas perdre pour
toujours les traditions orales. Il appartient � une ligne chefs et
rois, qui ont h�rit� leur talent musical, de cuentero d'histoires et
leur esprit aux EE. uu., o� il a partag� ces sons incroyables et
mots lyrique et provocadoras avec des musiciens et des auditeurs.
Bongo Love est un artiste authentique africain appr�ci� par des
amants de beaucoup de types de musique. Sa musique a �t� d�crite
comme heureux, tr�s dansant et r�parateur. Musicantes connus et
critiques de musique ont applaudi ses compositions originales. Il a
enregistr� trois CDs et il termine la place.
Culture Musical Club
Zanzibar
Le Culture Musical Club est le plus grand et prolifique et � succ�s
une taarab orchestre de Zanz�bar. Ils offrent le meilleur de la
musique taarab dans le style Swahili. Ont rendu nombreux performances
en Stone Town, des villages de Zanz�bar et de Tanzanie. Ils ont
effectu� � succ�s tu tournes par la France, la Belgique, le
Royaume-Uni, l'Allemagne, la Suisse, EE. uu., l'Arabie et l'�le
R�union.
Ses CDs, Spices of Zanzibar, Bashraf, Waridi et The Music of Zanzibar
ont rendu le nom Culture Musical Club c�l�bre partout dans le monde
et ses essais dans le club house s'est transform�s une attraction
touristique qui n'affecte pas le fait que les essais se transforment
rencontres sociales o� les gens jouissent de la musique.
K�k�l�
R�publique D�mocratique de Congo
K�k�l�, dans la langue lingala signifie "lianas", des branches de
la for�t qui sont encore lanc�es des ponts pour relier avec les
bords de la rivi�re. Le mot k�k�l� est un symbole, une musique qui
relie des g�n�rations, sans oublier que toutes sont fiscales d'un
seul type de musique que tous appr�cient. Il ne faut pas oublier que
pendant des dizaines, l'Afrique a dans� gr�ce � la musique
congole�a. Ils prennent part en K�k�l� : Nyboma Mwan Dido
(N�gro-Succ�s, African All Stars, Quatre Etoiles) ; Syran Mbenza (la
Banita, Dynamic Jazz, Somo-Somo, African All Stars, Kass Kass,

Lang'i
Le Congo Brazzaville
"Lang'i" dans la langue ingala signifie "couleur." Le groupe s'est
fond� il y a deux ans mais Lang 'i s'est transform� un nom tr�s
connu au Congo Brazzaville. Blanc d'Oupta et de K�b�n est une paire,
un noir, avec une combinaison de voix qui provoque des r�sultats
passionn�s. Ses spectacles ont qualit� rythmiques et beaucoup
color�.
Des favoris pendant le Festival de Fespam festival, sa musique se
entre l'Afrique et l'Occident, en combinant avec subtilit� des
langues et des rythmes �thniques congole�os avec les styles de la
vari�t�, funk et jazz. Offrent une Nouvelle couleur � la palette
musicale congole�a, loin des clich�s de Ndombolo. Lang'i chante dans
plusieurs langues du Congo, y compris lari, mbochi, t�ke 'lingala
and, en unifiant les groupes �thniques bless�s apr�s tant d'ann�es
d�vastation et guerre civile. Ses chansons ont un message tr�s
pertinent pour ce qui est congole�os mais aussi contient un message
universel.
Lang'i a grev� un CD � � promotionnel et son album sortira fin
2006.
Malouma
Mauritania
Malouma est la premi�re femme de Mauratania qui a introduit la
musique moderne de Mauritania. Nous avons eu la chance d�couvrir �
Malouma en 1998 quand est sorti son premier album "Desert of Eden',
Malouma est un artiste, compositora et interpr�te tr�s talentueuse
avec une voix extraordinaire.
Sa musique combine des sons traditionnels et modernes en m�langeant
des styles occidentaux avec la musique il demeure du Sahara et ajoute
des guitares �lectriques aux instruments traditionnels comme le
tidinit.
Son ancrage est traditionnel mais sa musique s'inscrit dans la
modernit�, inspir�e par les chansons du d�sert et en nageant avec
le rythme de la rivi�re S�n�gal, dans un lieu o� ils croisent les
m�lodies de l'Afrique occidentale, le monde Arabe et de Berbera,
entre le Sahel et les feuilles. Sa musique est unique. Il est aussi
connu comme militant et porte-parole des droits de la femme dans un
pays musulman.
Manou Coq
La C�te d'Ivoire
Apr�s deux saisons intenses, productives et � succ�s, faisant plus
de 100 concerts en Europe, l'Afrique et EE. UU., Manou Coq commence
avecexclusivit� son Nouveau tour pendant le Festival ACP de
Saint-Domingue. Il vient de terminer son dernier album qui sortira en
2007.
Manou est une femme africaine moderne �gale que sa musique, etnicidad
et culture. Contemporaine et cosmopolite, il trouve son inspiration
pendant ses voyages dans le monde et sa vie en Europe, en maintenant
ses racines djiboi en C�te d'Ivoire.
Sa musique est une fusion de poliritmos d'africains avec blues, funk,
groove et rock. Ses chansons parlent de l'Afrique, de la C�te
d'Ivoire, leurs villes, leurs femmes, ses douleurs et joies. Il ouvre
avec feu le chemin pour une nouvelle g�n�ration de musique
africaine.
Mayra Andrade
Extr�mit� Verte
Mayra Andrade est n� � Cuba mais ses p�res sont d'Extr�mit�
Verte. Il a v�cu en Extr�mit� Verte, le S�n�gal, l'Angola et
l'Allemagne. Quand avait 16 ann�es, pendant les Jeux francophones �
Ottawa Hull, le Canada, il a gagn� pour Extr�mit� Verte la
premi�re m�daille internationale d'or. Cela a eu une importance
grand�sima pour un petit pays (10 islitas, 500knm o� la musique est
presque la seule chose qui peut �tre export�e). Depuis lors Mayra a
effectu� de nombreux concerts.
En janvier le 2005, apr�s avoir pris part des festivals � Nantes,
Rennes, Africajarc et soutenu � Cesaria Evora, Enrico Macias et
l'Ernesto cubain Tito Ponts, Causez Aznavour j'invite pour
l'enregistrer avec le, dans une paire, une chanson de son nouvel
album.
Porte-parole de la culture de l'Extr�mit� Verte, Mayra impose son
style unique dans la tarima. Il a une voix profonde, chaude et lisse.
Il peut changer avec une vous facilitez incroyable de Moma � Funana
et de Coladeira � Batuque en ajoutant son contact personnel en style
jazz.
Sa personnalit� et talents portent une brise d'oxyg�ne dans la
musique des �les d'Extr�mit� Verte, un h�ritage qui m�lange des
rythmes africains et des rythmes du Vieux Continent.
Menwar and Saga�
�les Maurice
Menwar est l'ambassadeur le plus cr�atif que la Musique Sega des
�les Maurice. Sa musique est tr�s traditionnelle et ses racines sont
africaines. A commenc� aujourd'hui sa carri�re il y a 30 ans et elle
est consid�r� comme un des artistes plus importants que l'�le. Tous
ont reconnu leurs talents de percusionista.
Il a fond� une �cole o� il a enseign� sa m�thode propre de
toucher le "ravanne", l'instrument de percussion plus importante dans
la musique Sega. Il utilise aussi des instruments invent�s par
lui-m�me, comme la "kanenba" en utilisant des fleurs canne ou
"pistache" avec arachide.
Apr�s avoir �prouv� avec plusieurs analyses, il a cr�� un nouveau
concept de musique sega avec son groupe Saga�. Ses mots expriment les
difficult�s des Mauritaniens.
Le groupe a 5 percusionistas polyvalents qui utilisent des instruments
musicaux d'Oc�an Indien et de l'Afrique et une guitare �lectrique
qui imprime force � sa voix. Menwar m�lange le rythme de l'�le avec
blues, funk et �l�ments africains pour offrir une exp�rience
musicale cr�ole unique, qui refl�te sa cr�ativit�, po�sie et
recherche permanente de nouveaux sons de la musique sega.Mungal Patasar and

Trinit� et Tobago
Il faut imaginer le m�lange de de deux des instruments plus originaux
: ce qui est Ancienne citer de la musique classique de l'Inde et le
seul instrument musical invent� dans le si�cle XX : le steepan. Il
faut ensuite ajouter les rythmes complexes du tableau qu'ils combinent
avec la subtilit� d'un percusionista de jazz ou la dynamique de
percusionista d'un africain, m�langer des m�lodies de la calipso
d�riv�es de l'Afrique et de l'Europe, sans oublier les ragas
classiques de l'Inde.
La Mungal orquestra Patasar y Pantar a �t� fond�e en 1994 par
Mungal Patasar, bien connu par ses exp�rimentations avec musique
indienne classique, calipso et jazz.
Il a commenc� comme mandolinista en 1965 et a pris part plusieurs
orchestres l'Inde et les bandes sonores de films de l'Inde. Il a re�u
une bourse �gale �tudier shastra sangeet.
Encore sa premi�re passion est shastra sangeet, Mungal a suivi sur le
chemin de la musique fusion. A enregistr� son premier album en 1996,
"Nirvana" avec son Pantar orquestra. Le succ�s a �t� tel que Virgin
Enregistrements de la France lui a propos� qu'il enregistre son
second album Dreadlocks avec eux.
Nfithe
Mozambique
Nfithe, "The Warlocks", est un groupe musical de la ville de Beira
dans le nord de Mozambique. Ces huit jeunes sont ensemble depuis le
2002, inspir�s par leurs traditions africaines pour cr�er une
musique originale et moderne, focalis�s dans la musique dansante.
Les textes refl�tent leurs vies et pr�occupations, la souffrance des
enfants, le SIDA ou la guerre, mais maintiennent dans leurs chansons
un sens de l'humeur. Ils racontent l'histoire d'un chat qui a laiss�
�chapper � une souris par laquelle il aimait la viande de
qualit�..., quand elle obtiendra finalement sa viande, le chat il
invite aux souris pour qu'ils prennent part leur festivit�.
Nfithe a obtenu le prix du Music Crossroads Mozambique Festival 2006
(Jeunesses Musicaux Internationaux) � Maputo.
Ses concerts bouillent avec une �nergie �norme et tous les
spectateurs dansent, en oubliant la souffrance du continent...
Omar P�ne
Le S�n�gal
En 1976 les rues de Dakar sont divis�es deux parties. D'un c�t�,
les fanatiques d'Youssou N'Dour et ses �toiles. De l'autre c�t�,
ceux d'Omar P�ne et son Diamono Superbe. Tandis que Youssouf chantait
des sons de feu m'balax, Omar cr�ait son style propre. Ses racines
ont continu� � �tre senegaleses mais sa musique form�e pour jazz,
funk et influenzas afro-cubanas et son enfance pass�e dans les rues
l'ont transform� un h�ros pour les �tudiants, les gens sans travail
et des peuples.
En 1972, il Danse Diagne il cherchait � un chanteur pour son groupe
l'Orquestra Kadd et a trouv� � Omar P�ne. A ainsi commenc� sa
carri�re. Trois ann�es et un album plus tard, l'Orquestra Kadd a
fondu avec autres groupes de Dakar pour cr�er Superbe Diamono (qu'il
signifie "g�n�ration" dans la langue woloff). Ils ont ensemble
enregistr� plusieurs simples en incluant Soweto dans 1987. Omar il
Punit jusqu'� pr�sent il a sign� au moins 600 chansons.L'artiste est plus
qu'un simple chanteur. Ses textes ont structur�
leur carri�re. Avec Afsud-Senegal (l'Amical tu donnes Fans du Superbe
Diamono, ou Superbe Diamono Fan Club) cr�� en 1989, il a travaill�
pour am�liorer la vie de de ce qui est senegaleses. Il parraine le
Festival Banlieue Rythme, dont l'objectif est d'am�liorer la vie dans
la zone ouvri�re de Guediawaye.
Il a re�u le Prix Kora d'Or � Johannesburg dans 1998. Omar P�ne
c'est une l�gende vive dans son pays et aussi dans le monde.
Simon Nwambeben
Le Cameroun
Simon Nwambeben est n� en 1976, dans la ville de Bafia, situ�e �
120 Km de Yaound�, la capital de Cameroun. Il a cr� la partie
occidentale de cette r�gion dans une famille de musicantes. Quand il
avait 19 ann�es, le directeur de la compagnie Royal Deluxe street
theatre l'a vu dans un concert. Il l'a invit� � Nantes, France, o�
il a travaill� pendant 5 ann�es et o� Petits a �t� le directeur
de spectacles musicaux "contes n�gres" ("Petites histoires noires")
ainsi que "Petits contes chinois revus et tu corriges paire les
n�gres." ("Petites histoires chinoises r�vis�es et corrig�es par ce
qui est noirs").
Avec les influences des rythmes Bant� et la tradition Bafia, a
commenc� � cr�er son style propre, le Bitibak. Dans sa r�gion,
bitibak est le nom donn� � un m�lange plusieurs feuilles et de
buissons utilis� pour le traitement la malaria et les fi�vres.
Avec sa guitare, soutenu par des percussions tr�s fines et deux
vocalistas, Simon nous emm�ne dans un univers po�sie, simplicit� et
humanit�. Ses chansons dans bafia et fran�ais, refl�tent leurs
d�sirs paix, tol�rance et amour de la vie.

Amazones, enseignants des tambours
La Guinea par l'interm�diaire de Montr�al
"Hier soir, Ile d'Orl�ans dansait au rythme de sons africains.
Amazones, un groupe de femmes de Guinea percusionistas, sans peur de
casser tab�, tenia l'audition enchant�e."
"En Guinea, seulement des hommes ont le droit de jouer avec quelques
instruments - le djemb�, le krin, le bolon et le doundoun (tambour).
On peut imaginer l'effet produit quand une femme comme Fatoumata
Kouyat� on consignera derri�re un balafon, un instrument r�el qui
pouvait exclusivement pr�c�demment �tre jou� pour le roi �vent�.
"La r�volution f�ministe a commenc� en Guinea... ]. Pendant des
heures, ce qui est musicantes habill�es avec ses beaux" boubou "et
koris (v�tements avec des escargots) fascinaient aux spectateurs.
"L'intention a �t� d'offrir une alimentation intellectuelle mais
l'id�e plus grande du spectacle est pardessus proposer une vitrine
des traditions des quatre r�gions culturelles de Guinea. De
Sonis�n�, le rythme des compatriotes quand ils travailleront le
domaine jusqu'� Doundounba, la musique des c�r�monies des
p�cheurs, Amazones nous ont enseign� ses talents. Pour terminer le
spectacle, les rythmes du Soli, normalement r�serv�s bruyants
seulement pour la c�r�monie de circuncisi�n des hommes adolescents.

Racine Mapou d'Autour
Le Ha�ti
Le succ�s de Racine Mapou d'Autour est l'essai de la reconnaissance
de la culture vudu � travers�e la musique et l'acceptation de
l'identit� haitiana par ce qui est africains.
Les membres du groupe, tous en pratiquant le vud�, parlent
ouvertement de leurs liaisons avec les traditions et l'univers
symbolique du vud�. Veulent maintenir une connexion avec les racines
de cette tradition avec l'image du Mapou, l'arbre sacr� du vud�. Le
mapou a des racines ext�rieures impressionnantes o�, ils disent,
vivent les esprits.
Avec ses chansons, percussion, tambours et congas, Racine Mapou
d'Autour font de la musique traditionnelle, appel pur "rasin" (racine)
sans instrument �lectrique ou moderne. En haut du rythme infatigable
des tambours entr�e, petro et rare, appara�t la puissante voix
d'Autour, avec les caract�ristiques de de ce qui est oficiantes des
c�r�monies du vud�, accompagn�e par un choeur de femmes. Est en
m�me temps, une conclusion de dieux du vud�, la confirmation de ses
relations avec les racines vud� et aussi un commentaire sur les
mati�res politiques et la lutte des artistes.
Apr�s 9 ann�es, ont enregistr� 7 disques, plusieurs Tours
internationaux et un documentaire, Ha�ti, c�ur battant de Carl
Lafontant, Racine Mapou d'Autour ont maintenu l'authenticit� de sa
musique traditionnelle mais en utilisant des techniques modernes de
diffusion. Cela a permis son impact dans le monde musical haitiano.
Les Tambours de Gishora
Burundi
Il y a beaucoup de temps, en Burundi, les tambours ont beaucoup �t�
plus que des instruments musicaux. Ils ont �t� des objets sacr�s,
utilis�s seulement pendant des circonstances exceptionnelles et des
c�r�monies rituelles.
Plac� dans la commune de Giheta, Gishora a �t� le secteur des
tambours d'ascendance Banyagisaka. Deux tambours sacr�s, appel�s
Ruciteme ("pour ceux-l� nous nettoyons") et Muriminwa ("pour ceux-l�
nous cultivons"), sont conserv�s dans le Palais des Tambours.
Dans une for�t sacr�e de la Colline Gishora, les gens offraient du
repas � l'asile pit�n du sanctuaire. Gishora est encore un lieu
historique tr�s populaire pour ceux qui souhaitent conna�tre les
tambours de Burundi. C'est une tradition qui passe de g�n�ration �
g�n�ration et malgr� toutes les crises politiques du pays, le
rythme des tambours n'a pas chang�.
D�FIL� DE FA�ON
Anggy Ha�f
Le Cameroun
Anggy Ha�f est n� en 1974 et a h�rit� son talent de sa poitrine. Se
muet � Yaound� o� est n� son int�r�t dans la conception de
fa�on. Son aspect original a aussi facilit� son travaille comme
mod�le.
A inaugur� sa premi�re collection, Ancestrale, en 2001 pour le
concours Top Model de Cameroun. En 2002, il a dirig� le d�fil� de
fa�on mensuelle dans l'H�tel Milton de Yaound� et a �t� le
dessinateur officiel du concours Miss Cameroun en 2002.
Important personnage dans le monde de la fa�on, a dirig� l'agence
Bise Model depuis 2001, a inaugur� l'Association de Jeunes
DessinateursCameruneses, a organis� le festival jeunes dessinateurs et de
coiffeurs la m�me ann�e et finalement le Kamerly, le spectacle de
fa�on une plus grande "Made in Kamer" durant l'ann�e 2002.
Dans son art, Anggy Ha�f r�unit l'homme et la nature. Il utilise des
mat�riaux naturels pour fabriquer ses v�tements : rafia, feuilles,
racines, fibres de palmiers et mat�riel recycl�. Il s'inspire de la
culture africaine la plus profonde, mais n'a pas de la peur �
m�langer des toiles modernes et traditionnelles.
Leslie N�rette
Le Ha�ti
Leslie Ga�lle N�rette a 25 ann�es et est haitiana. Depuis toujours
int�ress�e par toutes formes d'art. Mais un d�sir naturel l'a
pouss�e pour qu'il se sp�cialise dans des secteurs qui existent en
harmonie parfaite avec un univers o� tu formes et des mouvements sont
une seule chose : arts entretiens, conception graphique et fa�on. O�
il �tudiait, il a gagn� le second prix dans un concours.
Apr�s ses �tudes, il aimerait il voyage et chercher son inspiration
dans les exp�riences des autres. Il lui enchante la diversit�, la
simplicit� et le surrealismo. Il admet aussi son amour pour la
photographie.

Une Communaut�, isol�e et rurale dans les montagnes de la Papouasie
la Nouvelle Guin�e, est faites face les occasions mais aussi les
menaces de l'introduction d'une mine d'or dans ses terres. La
Communaut� a d�j� perdu beaucoup de ses traditions culturelles en
raison de l'�vang�lisation de de ce qui est misionarios. La
Communaut� d�cide d'inciter une derni�re renaissance avant la
destruction totale de sa culture dans les mains les int�r�ts miniers
et les capitalistes. Le film se transforme, pour eux, la Poitrine de
Noe, un navire dans lequel ils vont mettre toutes les choses
pr�cieuses de leur culture, que les g�n�rations futures pourraient
d�couvrir sur eux. Entour� en HDV, le directeur aide � un peuple
illettr� "� �crire" l'essentiel de son histoire orale et
approfondit les r�flexions de cette Communaut� sur son pr�sent et
les pressions du monde moderne qui ont r�sult� dans l'acceptation de
l'activit� mini�re comme solution pour prendre part l'�conomie
globale.

Le calipso est l'�me de Trinit�. Pendant trois si�cles, ses
chanteurs ont repr�sent� le monde cr�ole comme s'ils �taient les
cris des Cara�bes. Sont improvisadores exceptionnels, des po�tes
allergiques � toutes formes de censure, chantent l'histoire de
l'esclavage, de la libert�, guerres mondiales, ind�pendance et
�migration, sans oublier l'amour, avec l'importante dose chismes et
sexe.
Lord Pr�tendre, Lord Beginner et Lord Kitchener, beaucoup des
enseignants l�gendaires il y a mort durant les derni�res ann�es.
Mais, en Trinit� ils restent encore certains comme Mighty Sparrow,
Mighty Terreur, Bomber, Calypso Rose, et Lord Sup�rieur. Dans le
groupe Calypso at Dirty Jim's le tu conclus des �toiles encore ils
brillent mais il est entr� une nouvelle g�n�ration : chanteurs soca
et po�tes rapso.

Un groupe d'enfants abrit�s de la guerre prennent un vol, dans la
compagnie d'une religieuse, � Luanda, la capital de l'Angola. En
arrivant dans l'a�roport de Luanda, un des enfants, N'dala �chappe
pour d�couvrir la ville. La religieuse commence la recherche de
l'orphelin. N'dala p�n�tre la ville d�truite, en imaginant qu'il
retourne � la maison de ses p�res d�funts.
En commen�ant � faire nuit de cette ville d�grad�e, les illusions
r�volutionnaires se sont transform�es en poudre, les rencontres sont
difficiles et fascinants. Joka, un personnage exclu de cette ville,
offre � N'dala un peu d'argent pour que le il l'aide � voler.
Maria Jo�o Ganga est n� in Huambo, l'Angola en 1964. �tude
cin�matographie dans l'�cole de films ESEC � Paris quand son pays
souffrait de la guerre civile. Il a �t� assistant directeur de
documentaires, mais son travail plus important est d'�crire des

En el idiome malagasi "Mahaleo" signifie libre, independiente...
Les voix et la musique de Mahaleo ont accompagn� au peuple de
Madagascar depuis l'effondrement du syst�me colonial. Mais, apr�s 30
ann�es de succ�s, le groupe a maintenu ses distances face au monde
de l'exposition business et sont encore profond�ment ins�r�s dans
le d�veloppement du pays, ses carri�res en �tant des chirurgiens,
agriculteurs, sociologues et membres du Parlement.
Le film, accompagn�es par les m�lodies rythmiques du groupe, suit
les chanteurs � travers�e ses vies quotidiennes, en nous donnant une
image des probl�mes sociaux et �conomiques graves du peuple de
Madagascar. Les talents unis de de ce qui est br�silien Cesser Paes,
et Raymond Rajaonarivelo de Madagascar ont cr�� une oeuvre
concr�te, po�tique et politique.

Avant de s'aller � l'Europe pour terminer ses �tudes, Vita, jeune
africain fait la promesse � sa poitrine qu'il ne chantera jamais. Il
existe une l�gende familiale qui dit que si une femme de la famille
chante, il sera hechizada et mourra. � Paris, Vita trouve � Pierre,
un jeune musicien et se tombe de de lui. Inondation de joie, commence
� chanter. S'est alarm�e pour avoir chant� mais Pierre lui demande
d'enregistrer un disque. La chanson est un succ�s �norme. En
craignant de duquel s'informe sa poitrine de ne pas avoir rempli sa
promesse, Vita il d�cide de retourner � sa maison pour mourir. Avec
l'aide de Pierre, il organise son d�c�s propre et r�surrection, en
enseignant � sa famille et � amis que tout est possible si un a la
valeur d'oser...

Il est n� en Cadique (Guinea-Bissau) en 1949, Flore Gomes a �tudi�
de la cin�matographie dans l'Institut Arts et Industrie
Cin�matographique (ICAIC) Cuba et nouvelles t�l�visuelles au
S�n�gal avec Paulino Soumarou-Vieyra. Il a travaill� comme
journaliste et conseiller du ministre d'Information. Son op�ra
premier, le Mortu filme Nega (1987) a �t� choisi et a �t�
r�compens� dans de nombreux festivals de cin�ma et il s'est
transform� un �v�nement.

Dans un quartier d'une ville africaine, Paito, un enfant de 12
ann�es, vend dumplins pour aider � sa famille. Un jour, une bande de
jeunes voleurs vole son argent. L'enfant d�cide de ne pas retourner
� sa maison jusqu'� ce qu'il r�cup�re l'argent. On va par la ville
et prend le m�me train que les voleurs. En cherchant travail, il
commence � vivre sur un march� qui pendant la nuit se transforme un
dortoir pour les vendeurs sans maison.
Il trouve � Xano, un enfant de son �ge. Paito est tr�s attir� par
la conduite insolente et sans je n�gocie de Xano. � Xano n'aime pas
travailler et il vole seulement pour �viter de vivre avec sa famille.
Malgr� ses diff�rences, une amiti� cro�t entre eux. Peu � peu, en
utilisant sa cr�ativit� et ses habilit�s � n�gocier, Paito il
accumule l'argent perdu mais les voleurs vivent aussi sur le march�
et volent de l'argent de des autres enfants. Ils repr�sentent une
menace permanente.
N� au Br�sil, Licinio Azevedo vit en Mozambique depuis 1975. A une
longue carri�re en faisant des films et des documentaires. Il a
travaill� dans l'Institu� Ressortissant de Cin�ma en Mozambique, et
il a collabor� avec Ruy Guerre et Jean-Luc Godard. Actuellement, il
travaille comme ind�pendant et est fondateur de la Compagnie de
Production de Mozambique.

Apr�s ses �tudes en France, Gonaba retourne � son pays o� il
travaille comme inspecteur d'�coles. De commencement, il prend la
d�cision de laisser la ville et aller vivre dans le coeur de la
jungle �quatoriale o� ils vivent les Babinga pigmeos. Gonaba veut
les aider � se lib�rer des "grands gens". Pour lui, le racisme
contre eux est insupportable. Cette aventure et ces rencontres
l'enseigneront que le bonheur est la chose la plus relative que le
monde.
Didier Ou�nangar� est n� le 23 f�vrier en Bambari (R�publique
Afrique Centrale). En 1983, il a �t� chang� � Rennes (France), o�
a travaill� comme camar�grafo de la t�l�vision fran�aise FR3. A
cr�� en 1995, Afrique Bretagne Vid�o Production en Bangui.
Bassek ba Kobhio est n�e le 1de janvier 1957 en Nindje (Cameroun) et
a travaill� comme premier collaborateur du directeur du film Chocolat
de Claire Denis dans 1987. a dirig� FESTAC, un court documentaire
avant de roder son premier largometraje, Mauvais Sango, en 1991. En
1991, les a cr��es dans son pays des Films Terre Africaine, une
compagnie de production tr�s active. Quatre ann�es ensuite, a lanc�
�crans Noirs, un festival itin�rant au Cameroun, le Gabon et la
R�publique Centrale africaine.

Les peintures murales des femmes Kassenas en Burkina Faso, pr�s de la
fronti�re avec Ghana, sont famos�simas par la beaut� de leurs
motifs et l'harmonie de leurs couleurs.
Int�ress� � faire de ces peintures son sujet, Katy Lena Ndiaye a
choisi de faire une comparaison entre tradition et modernit�, vu par
le biais d'images de trois personnes et de sa "petite-fille" qu'ils
entament dans l'art ancestral.
Katy a fait un film avec un esth�tique tr�s bien contr�l�, la
v�ritable image d'une Communaut� artistique pr�occup�e par le
trema de la pr�servacion et une continuit� les traditions,
l'�ducation et la m�moire dans un continent qui vit un processus de
changements fondamentaux.

L'Afrique du Sud durant les ann�es 90. Thandeka est un journaliste
noir tourment� par les fant�mes de l'apartheid qui trouve refuge
dans l'alcool. Sa fille, Simangaliso, a �t� toujours sourde et
souffre de l'indiff�rence de sa m�re. Thandeka avait pr�c�demment
�t� t�moin du meurtre d'un jeune appel� Dineo. Metua, la m�re de
Dineo, la demande de t�moigner face � la Commission "V�rit� et
R�conciliation". Il veut trouver aux assassins de sa fille et qui
indiquent le lieu o� ils ont enterr� le corps de leur fille, s�re
que cela est la seule mani�re de lib�rer l'�me de Dineo. Pendant ce
temps, Simangaliso pr�pare un message secret (un code zul� fait avec
PER leur de couleur) comme dernier signal � sa m�re.
Ramadan Suleman est n� en 1955 � Durban (Afrique du Sud). A fond�
le Th��tre Dhlomo, le premier th��tre � Johannesburg. Son premier
film Fools (1997) a gagn� le Leopardo d'Argent dans le Festival de
Cin�ma en Locarno et a re�u le Prix Oumarou Ganda et le prix de
l'Union Europ�enne de la Fespaco 1999.
