Dear Radhika, Raul, Pablo,
Let me introduce you to Miguel Ceara Hatton, who recently was appointed as responsible for the Human Developement Office in UNDP Dominican Republic.
He was copied "the document of vision" the Core Team of the ICT Strategy group has made as a first draft input for the "key multi-stakeholder consultation" (the first of the consultation process following the designed methodology). He read this document, without having been fully informed of the context and being copied the methodology documents, and found it was not effective reflecting the UNDP vision of Human Development as it should be articulated with any ICT4D effort.
We had a meeting this morning where we gave him more of the context. Enrique will bring him the whole documentation in order to allow him to have a contextual perspective. We explained to him that this document was a draft to be processed by the consultation and as such the place for modificiation should be during the consultation (next thursday).
We agreed that Miguel could offer a short introduction to the first consultation (somehow like Radhika has done to the Core Team at the beginning of the process or during the Socinfodo meeting for civil society) to help the MDG and HD perspective be duly integrated in the process. This will be a positive added-value to the process and is coherent with the methodology. He told us he will prepare that presentation this week-end and will conceptualize the relationship between MDG/HD and ICT4D.
I offered to contact him with the persons the more competent with that matter in the group, to avoid to reinvent the wheel and help him in the building of the ICT4D articulation aspect of the presentation.
Miguel,
Radhika is ICT Policy Advisor in the ICT4D group (and do not speak Spanish).
Raul is Senior ICT4D Advisor in the ICT4D group (y s habla castellano :-) ).
Pablo is member of the Board of Directors of FUNREDES and has been closely related to the UNDP activities in that field in Venezuela (y s habla castellano :-) ).
I hope this contacts will help you for the building of the presentation and we thank you for the value you will add to the process of the participative creation of the national strategy for the Information Society.
Best to all.
Daniel
