OVERVIEW: Open Source practices and GPL-licensed software continue to
make up a growing part of the marketplace. But how exactly do they work?
What are the benefits? And what are the restrictions? This session will
explore some of the obstacles facing open source efforts and how you can
work with open source software while keeping programs proprietary. It
will also provide characterization of how open source functions, the legal
and technical nature of the Gnu Public license, developer rights and
obligations when leveraging and deploying open source software, and an
overview of different open source business models.
Duration: 1 hour total (40 minutes for presentation and 20 minutes
reserved for Questions & Answers)
