>Perhaps Deirdre would like to brief us the results of that search.
Deirdre would be very happy to.
One of the original developers of the equipment is
Spanish :-)
I think that I sent a list of sources in April.

I attach a copy of the results of the most recent search
I did in June.
I found a company in the United States which will
rent the equipment outside the US, so my friend
Susan will be getting her eyemouse early in
August. The details are the last entry on the
list. Chris Lankford (address supplied) has been
VERY helpful.
The Danish research is making progress (next to=
last reference). I heard from John Paulin Hansen
<john.paulin@mail.tele.dk> on 25th June:
We are still working hard to make the web camera tracker
more robust. It may take some more months. Meanwhile,
if your friend is still able to activate a switch of
some kind, she could start using our system in step
scanning mode. It can become a rather fast way of typing
(5 - 8 words per minute) and we have now a system that
includes web browsing, e-mail, typing, music player
and more. Our system may also be used by a head mouse.
You can download a free version of the system from
this adress:
http://www.cogain.org/results/applications/gazetalk/download_gazetalk
If you think this is usefull for your freind we will
have a new version ready in a week with more effective
interaction and a step scan funtion that will work with
any single switch.
There is a lot of information at
http://www.cogain.org/ - a big european project
on eyetracking hardware/software.
A waning though: I was searching for something
very specific which is for people who are
completely paralysed by strokes, motor neurone
disease (ALS), physical trauma. But while I was
looking I met a lot of people who have all been
kind and helpful and willing to network. If
anyone has a specific need, please write to me
directly - in your own language :-) - and I'll
try to help. There are also good ideas for
inexpensive solutions which do not need a computer.
Best wishes, and thank you to all of the Mistic@s who
helped me
Deirdre
