Actually, to be honest, I'm not so much concerned
with semantics. I'm more concerned with some
content, which may or may not be missing label,
depending on your point of view. My concern is
the "skill set" that is fundamental to
collaboration, communication, networking and
facilitation. And I'm concerned about how to
create the conditions that allow these things to
happen, which may include somehow "creating,"
"passing on," or "facilitating the use of" said "skill set".

Some time ago, Rosa suggested the label
"educación en el manejo de la información". But
I have two concerns with this term. First, to me
it implies the involvement of a teacher, which
isn't, and shouldn't, necessarily the
case. Secondly, I think that there is more at
stake here than simply managing information, as
is suggested by points 3 & 5 from the University
of Winnipeg cybrary site, which have to do with
critical thinking, personal values, ethics, etc.

How do we describe the types of skills that help
a person to be free at the dawn of the
information age ... And how do we describe the
processes that 'pass on' or 'facilitate the use of' these skills?
