Launch of the Who Makes the News? 2005 Report,
Global Media and Monitoring Project 2005 (Eng/Fre/Span/Port)

The international release of the
"Who Makes The News? 2005 report containing global,
regional and national quantitative and qualitative
results taking place in London on 15 February, will
be followed the next day by the launch of
"Who Makes The News?: Three Weeks of Global Action
on Gender and the Media", 16 February - 8 March 2006.

Marking the first year anniversary of the 2005 Global
Media Monitoring Day, The Three Weeks of Global Action
will feature national launches of the global and
national reports and activities in over 50 countries
relating to awareness-raising on the representation
of women and men in the news in over 70 countries that
participated in the research in 2005.

PARTICIPATE IN THE GLOBAL LAUNCH EVENT THROUGH OUR LIVE BLOG
Stefania Milan of the Stanhope Centre for Communications
Policy Research will bring you regular updates of the event
live from the Foreign Press Association in London on 15th
February 2006 from 11am until 1pm GMT. The debate for the
day will focus on: Good journalism involves a search for
diversity and balance in subject matter, perspectives and
points of view.

WHO MAKES THE NEWS? GLOBAL REPORT 2005
The Global Report will be made available to anyone and
everyone in electronic form on Wednesday 15th February
2006 at 10.00 am GMT. This report is before all an
internationally recognized research project which
provides media and/or gender activists around the
world with reliable data on the state of gender in
the news media worldwide.
