Google vs. NY Times, we've only just begun....
In the techno wonder environment of the Silicon valley it seems that
if you're not up to date with the latest buzz you are not a player...
Everyone's talking about the Google article on The New York Times
these days, and everyone of course is trying to give its own opinion
on the topic, some resisting to be turned to the dark side, while
others starting to follow the so-traditional trend of bashing the big guys.
But if you want to have something interesting to say next time
someone brings that topic up, why not dazzle them with an interesting
piece of conspiracy theory I just came up...
Could it be that it's not just an independent article but Citizen
Kane making movie-like revenge for the lousy ranking of the New York
Times on Google search results?
I'm not making this up. Just read the article published on Wired
Magazine last July...
"Searching for the New York Times"
http://www.wired.com/news/culture/0,1284,64110,00.html
Of course, The New York Times deserves lousy ranking with their
unbelievable approach to charge you US$3.95 for a 900 words article,
without the pictures and charts!!!! See an example here:
http://query.nytimes.com/gst/abstract.html?res=F40E1EFE3A5A0C718EDDA10894DD404482
Not only that, if you search for the term "Google" on New York Times
search option, they still don't acknowledge Google as a noun and
assume you made a typing mistake and ask you "Did You Intend to
Search for Goggle?". Can it get funnier? scroll to the bottom of the
search results page and the NY Times invites you to "Search Paid
Death Notices and Paid Memorial Notices for Google". See it yourself
by typing Google on the search form at the top of
http://www.nytimes.com website.
If all you are interested is on the Google article on NY Times, here
it is, that is until the NY Times archives it and you have to pay
US$3,95 to read it (without pics and charts):
