Valery,

the question is about the relation between the face-to-face (Levinas) and
the interface...

Should ethics be so emphatically (and pathetically, with a lot of religious
and metaphysical background in it) be based on the face-to-face? is this not a
contra-diction to what happens when millions of people communicate per
inter-face? Taking a metaphysical (or even a 'revolutionary' or
'humanistic') counterposition makes the impression to me that we are having
some
fear and try to contra-dict the phenomenon with some kind of
fundamental(istic) thinking.
Probably we need more thinking about what is in-between us, about the inter
of the inter-face and the 'to' of the face-to-face, i.e. of the dimension
of openness that takes us out of the centre. For Levinas this is somehow
'holy'
or 'infinity'. Probably he is loading too much into this.

By the way, I discovered today in Le Monde diplomatique an interesting
forum that will take pace in Porto Alegre (Brasil) at the same time as the
Davos Forum(25-30 January), but the Porto Alegre Forum is the place where
NGOs etc. will meet...

Kind regards, 'da svidania'
