I played with the Gold and Silver numbers in your posted
article and, compounding at 5% for the past 300 years they
amount to about $20 trillion dollars US (at current gold
and silver prices).
With Official Development Assistance running at about
76B a year it would take 250+ years to pay that off.
Of course, at 5% a year it would take $1 trillion per year
just to keep up with the interest so, in fact, the $76B/year
involves a further borrowing of 924 million this year,
more next year, and in 250 years the debt would be much
much bigger.
So much for historical justice.
