NOTES:

Nicholas Negroponte's laptop scheme is no longer associated
with the MIT Media Laboratory. It has been seperated from
there and is being run from its own foundation
(see: http://laptop.org) headed by Negroponte.

This scheme has been flawed from the beginning and it is sad
to see that Nigeria will be the test site for this flawed idea.

Primary school participation in Nigeria is only about 35% of
school age children with a significant gender gap (many fewer
girls in school than boys). With over 50 million children under
the age of 14, and less than half of those in school, one has
to question Nigeria's priorities here. One hundred million
dollars worth of computers are only the initial costs of what
will be an expensive flop, even for oil rich Nigeria.
