Please excuse the English, and the fact that I may not have understood the debate properly. (My multi-national
granddaughter is having horrendous passport and visa problems in Rome and I am more than a little distracted)
>From Juan Dolio and even before it has seemed to me that there is a perception problem about Mistica - we do
not all see ourselves the same way.
My perception (and I do not claim that it is right, only that it is mine :-) ) is that Mistica is a large gathering of
people connected by a common interest. As with all large gatherings some of those present are vocal, others
prefer to stay quiet and listen, but silent or speaking they are all equally members of the group.
At Juan Dolio Daniel reported there to be about 500 of us.
In terms of sustainability this number is very important, so perhaps a first move is to attempt to verify it.
But here our perception of ourselves becomes crucial. In actual communities (currently the United States is a
very good example) it is very difficult to persuade people to register as voters and to vote. Perhaps that has
something to do with the fact that most of the people concerned were born into the community, not members
by choice.
But Mistica is a little different. Mistica is more like a large meeting where everyone, vocal or otherwise, has
made the choice to be present. By being present they have already registered and voted :-) However for
reasons of virtuality we cannot "see" each other unless we speak. I suggest that, as Cristina did with the group
in Juan Dolio, Mistica send Mistica a message, explaining the need for firmer and up to date numbers, and asking
Mistic@s to "Say Si for Mistica" - like sending a signup sheet round a big meeting so that you can tell who is
there. The action required of individual Mistic@s should be as simple as possible - perhaps simply sending the
request message back to the list. NOT a survey, nothing complicated, simply a head count.
If it doesn't work then we have to think again, but I don't believe that we can lose anything by trying.
If this is a complete nonsense then I apologize again.
Please keep all of your virtual fingers crossed for a satisfactory resolution of Gabriela's difficulties.
