ORIENTATIONS AND GENERAL DEFINITION ABOUT OUR ACTIVITIES

ORIENTATION

FUNREDES' primary orientation is to make the services of the NICT (New Information and Communication Technologies) easier for the users and to demystify the associated technics.

FUNREDES applies the concept of investigation - action and concentrates itself at positioning the cultural and human elements in the center of its activities and its proyects. The fundamental strategy of action is the participation of the users in all of the steps, from the instalation to the maintenance of the technologies of the NICT. FUNREDES favours the organization of the institutional structures with a participatory, open and plural character.

The activities of FUNREDES are placed in the field of:

• participation in the development of the people, the countries and the regions,
• stimulation on the integration and the higher economic development,
• reaching for susceptible results durable in an endocrine way,
• adoption of a systematic and integrated vision about problems of development.

The communication (in particular intercultural and inter-regional) is, before the technology, the strategic aspect of FUNREDES.

GENERAL DEFINITION ABOUT OUR ACTIVITIES

PERMANETN ACTIVITIES:

• Coordination of electronic conferences, electronic libraries, electronic indexes of general and selected interest.
• Technological supervision in the information sciences.
• Relation with the consult of actors of the area.
• Edition of bulletins of periodic information about treated themes.
• Organization and execution of seminarios of formation for the use of the NICT.
• Publication of booklets about sensibilisation and promotion of the NICT.
• Investigation about the social and cultural impact of the NICT.
• Investigation about the methodologies more appropriate for the installation and the diffusion of the telematic networks in development countries.
• Establish formats for the systematic evaluation of the existing products in the sector (networks, programs, etc.)

SPECIAL ACTIVITIES / PROYECTS

• favouring the regional integration,
• accessible applications throu the networks,
• programs which ease the access to the NICT and the ICT,
• creation of national networks of investigation,
• services with added value to the telematic networks of investigation,
• systematic promotion for the creation and use of electronic conferences and indexes.
