Maybe you can reformulate the question. The problem is not OLPC or
not. ¿the educational problem in ALC is a device problem ?¿How could
we better use the enormous amount of money OLPC demands to our región
for educational purpose?

Many people see the Internet with the model of TV. PC and network as
an "access" device. Interactivity means for them that the user can
change the chanel and that is all.

OLPC model is based in a device without disk and access only to a
centraliced server. Something like an interactive and limited TV. It
will be very difficult to charge information or really have it at home.

The problem is the model behind, not the device. Even if you can find
better and cheaper devices and PC in the chinese market, you will
need a national educational model and a way to have local contents and
a real distributed infraestructure and human support. This means more
money and burocracy without an educational project behind.
